03.30.11 | I don't know Nick... John Danks has consistently been excellent for two years straight, and our bullpen is pretty stacked (Sale, Santos, Thornton). There are some question marks, I agree: Buehrle has seen his ERA go up for 2 years straight (but still, he's an innings eater); Floyd is wildly inconsistent in the first half (but also really talented) and I guess there's no way to know if Edwin Jackson will continue his hot streak from the second half of last year.
But if Peavey comes back relatively soon and is actually recovered, we'll be fine. Dunn, Quentin, Rios, Konerko, Beckham, Ramirez, Visciedo and Pierzynski will all have solid years. We'll score a shit ton of runs. |
theacademy
03.30.11 | the problem with the marlins is that:
1. 'if everybody stays healthy' is a big IF, especially with josh johnson

Dunn is most effective as DH. He does have a horrible glove but his hitting stats are productive. He should end up being about 3 wins above replacement value.

03.30.11 | yeah Dunn's OPS is off the charts -- his strike outs are negated by how much he walks. and he won't be playing the field anyways (though he didn't look horrible at 1B in Spring Training, which is surprising). |
