Would've been an amazing full-length (I saw somewhere contemporary that it was planned to be), but didn't happen unfortunately. What stops it being a full-on 5.0 for me, is that of only 4 songs, 1 was a cover... a decent enough cover, but a cover nonetheless. Didn't really make it their own, or do anything amazing with it either... just seemed to be more about giving props to a kindred forebear.

Had backlash due to its glitch elements (brought in, in part, through necessity) and again "pop sellout" elements, but contemporary haters monumentally missed the point. Think it's closer to getting its dues now.
cylinder 02.11.23	that's good news. i'll admit it left me baffled on my first few listens back in high school. but now i savor every second of it. probably one of the most forward-thinking metal albums ever made

Even the cover art (tastefully minimalistic, Helvetica font... more reminiscent of an IDM release), is deliberately free of expected genre convention. Really worked to their favour.

This reminds me, do you have the CD by chance? I remember in the liner notes, they wrote this cryptic message in a code made up of symbols they designed, and you had to decode it by a key in the back of the liner notes. It was a really cool extension the cover's aesthetic I thought

Ah, yeah, I had the CD, but don't have it to hand anymore. But yeah, I vaguely remember that being a thing... I don't think I pursued it really, (probably due to general apathy and my inherent shittiness with puzzles, etc.,), but I suppose any answers to any mysteries around this are a Google search away these days, lol.
