Around the World: New Wave of Thrash Metal
This list is New Wave Of Thrash Metal bands from around the world. The bands are not necessarily my favorite from each country. I tried to stay away from the more well known groups, such as Havok, MW, Suicidal Angels, Angelus Apatrida....
-In alphabetical order by country |
1 | Elm Street
Australia |
2 | Violator
Brazil
Brazil is filled with these guys |

Canada
Definitely my favorite of the modern female fronted thrash acts |
4 | Explosicum
China |
5 | Howler (CR)
Costa Rico |
6 | Battery
Denmark |
7 | Shrapnel (UK)
England |
8 | Lost Society
Finland
Fast, loud, & thrash hungry |
9 | Dust Bolt
Germany
One of my very favorite modern Thrashers. They seem to have it all |
10 | Chronosphere
Greece
These guys got me obsessed with finding Greek metal. They have cool red pants. I bought Envirusment in Athens, where they have 5 metal shops within a block of each other. If you ever find yourself in Athens, check out Metal Era (awesome people there) & No Remorse Records (I found an original, unopened copy of DUST's self titled album from 1971!) |
11 | Electroqute
Iran
Not many people know that their are a number of great metal bands in Iran. These guys are not to well known outside their country, and they sing in Farsi (Persian). However, there stuff is great, and my Farsi sucks. Definitely different than most modern thrash. Give them a listen:

12 | Acrassicauda
Iraq
They may be more well known because of all the media coverage, and not straight up NWOTM but these guys are amazing, and it's awesome to see such cool stuff coming of out Iraq. |
13 | Animator (IRE)
Ireland |
14 | Shredhead
Israel
These guys are great. They recently got a lot of new fans with MetalSucks featuring their video for "Walk With The Dead". It is probably the best video ever: South Park styles death trip featuring all the metal greats! |
15 | Ultra-Violence
Italy
These guys blew me out of the water! So heavy. Their whole image is based on Clockwork Orange and it fits their music perfectly. Can't stop listening to tracks like "10,000 Ways To Spread My Hate"! |
16 | Grief Of War
Japan |
17 | Commando
Mexico |
18 | Legion of the Damned
Netherlands |
19 | Tantara
Norway
So good. Hope they have more stuff coming |
20 | Crisix
Spain
These guys have a song about Frieza! "Frieza The Tyrant". Also, Spain is becoming a major capitol of thrash metal. So many great bands are sprouting out of there. |
