God Is An Astronaut
sleepmakeswaves
(the) Slowest Runner (In All the World)
Rosetta
Hammock
Slint
Vessels
The last two aren't completely instrumental, they have some vocals, but they're still fantastic.

02.02.12 | Yndi Halda-Enjoy Eternal Bliss
| fulgrim
02.02.12 | Yeah, definately check out Yndi Halda. Listen to Jakob - Solace aswell. | minty901
02.02.12 | couldnt agree more with the first commenter. the more post-rock bands you listen to, the less special their music becomes. if you listen to too much at once you wont dedicate enough time to any particular album, so you it will never engrave its importance on you. | ILJ
02.02.12 | ^ Yeah I'm just starting to realize the same thing. Listen sparingly. | minty901
02.02.12 | for 6 years, the only post-rock band id heard was eits, with earth is not a cold dead place and all of a sudden... and i thought they were incredible (in fairness, they still are), and really sentimental for me etc etc. since getting loads of other post-rock albums it's all become a bit too... regular? although they're all good (and i could recommend loads), none of them are really that special, even those eits albums that used to be so important to me now just sound like better versions of other albums. | minty901
02.02.12 | but if you do want recommendations, these id recommend above all others:
Explosions in the Sky - All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone
sleepmakeswaves - In Today Already Walks Tomorrow
pg.lost - Yes I Am
This Will Destroy You - Young Mountain / This Will Destroy You
Mogwai - Young Team
Caspian - Live at Old South Church
The American Dollar - The Best of The American Dollar | evilford
02.02.12 | as far as post metal goes, you should dig deeper into ISIS if you haven't already. I would also recommend Neurosis. very different sound from anyone else, and they just can't be copied. you might check out Cult of Luna as well. Also, someone mentioned Rosetta above. all of these bands a fantastic post-metal bands, but they do all have vocals.
if you're looking for purely insrumental post-metal, Pelican seems to be the most popular. I haven't really latched on to their sound yet, but they have a dedicated following.

02.02.12 | GET SOME HAMMOCK ON THAT LIST BRO | scissorlocked
02.02.12 | drop some acid

02.02.12 | lol these recs, heres some actual good post-rock
jakob - solace
bark psychosis - hex | EyesWideShut
02.02.12 | DO MAKE SAY THINK | VlacDrac
02.02.12 | Pelican - Australasia | minty901
02.02.12 | jakob is amazing at atmospheric sound and production... but their songs do nothing interesting. just pick any random song from solace and you've basically heard all the album has to offer | Scoot
02.02.12 | you'd love slowest runner | Jash
02.02.12 | Ahhhhh Hyperion beat me to it, get Hex for sure. That album coined the term post-rock, without we'd still be calling this stuff long rock (except sometimes theyre not) songs without words (except sometimes they are) | Jash
02.02.12 | Set Fire To Flames - Sings Reign Rebuilder
Spokes - Everyone I Ever Met |
