During These Summer Months.

These are the five albums that have provided the score to nearly everything I have done thus far this season.
1Kurt Vile
Smoke Ring for my Halo

Drop the needle on this one, kick back, and Chill the hell out. Read some good
books to Mr. Vile's drug-drawl and psych-folk.
2 The Gaslight Anthem
The '59 Sound

In May, I got to see the Broadway play "Million Dollar Quartet," which provides a
snapshot of a night on which Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, and Johnny
Cash got together and jammed their jams. TOGETHER. It was killer. Suffice to say,
it reinvigorated my love for American Rock & Roll. And there is no band to day that
fits that bill better than the Gas Light Anthem. This album bleeds honesty.
3The Magnetic Fields
69 Love Songs

If anyone ever asks me "What album would you want to have with you on a desert
island." I would not hesitate. Stephen Merrit is a saint, and I would follow him (nearly)
to the ends of the earth. This album is so utterly relatable, I can't think of a time in
my life when a song or two out of the 69 would not speak to where I am. It is my
most consistently listened to album and it looks to remain that way.
4Radiohead
The King Of Limbs

Nay Sayers be damned. This album is brilliant. The textures, that fucking piano
on codex. It's just a joy to listen to. And it grows better and better every time I
listen to it.
5 Bon Iver
Bon Iver

I know this isn't out yet... But you know. . . It's brilliant. I hated it for not being For Emma at
first. But thats not really it's purpose. I just can't get over how well it works. Beth/Rest should
suck. But it's Awesome(!?). What ever. Justin Vernon is a genius.
