Heavy Montreal's First Day Was So...

Kickass.. Sure some bands played bad but in general the day was Great.

Best Performance of the Day. Playing Rust In Peace in its entirety was amazing. Dave's vocals were OK at best, but the rest was top notch. They even played some of their hits after the set and did a "private" show after the festival. The pit was so big and there was a lot of people singing

2nd Best PerformancePlaying Seasons In the Abyss in its entirety was amazing too. Amazing from the vocals to the instruments. Not sure if Lombardo was here, it wasn't looking to be him, but who cares. The pit was dangerous, got some bruises from it even if I didn't wanted to be part of it, body surfers were really pain in the ass. Played Angel of Death but didn't played Raining Blood and played a song from their newest album.
3Alice Cooper

4th Best Performance. Probably the best visual show of this festival with a lot of accesories. Vocals were awful and the rest excellent. Some part were slower than on the albums. Played classic songs like I'm 18, Poison, School's Out, No More Mr. Nice Guy, Vengeance, Billion Dollars Babies, etc

3rd Best Performance. Excellent as always. Was a mesmerizing thing to hear them live for the first time. Didn't played of lot of their 2 latest albums so it was all more amazing. Didn't really remember the set they played.
5Rob Halford

What else to say about the "King of Metal"? Sure, he doesn't have the energy of the old day, but his vocals still are top notch. They played mostly his solo stuff but played 2 songs I didn't really recognize

Shame I wasn't really in front of the stage because I was keeping my place for the Slayer show. Their set was well diversified. Played two songs from their latest, and classic from the others. The pit was not as big as Slayer or Megadeth, but the energy was there

Anvil for fucking sake why did you played a song on guitar with a fucking dildo. Dammit ,you bunch of crazy fools, you've surely put hell of a show for a band of old guys. The drum solo was excellent, the guitar playing sloppy sometimes, but the bass was tight. Saying vocals on the guitar surely surprised me. Played classics like This is Thirteen, 666, etc
8Fear Factory

Played a smaller set because they were complaining about the sound quality of the drums. Wasn't really impressed by their live performance. The singer seemed weak, the guitar was sloppy, the drums were too loud, etc. I think that smaller venues seem best for them. And the temperature during their performance was about 35 Celsius Degrees so no pit.

Being a local band surely helped them to put the crowd on their side. Was somehow OK, but they didn't managed to put a excellent performance. Played too much of their latest album which didn't really helped. Growls and drums was excellent, the rest OK. The pits(yes multiple pits) were too violent. Didn't know why. Next time young guys, don't mosh and lose energy on a OK performance
10Melissa Auf Der Maur

Worst performance of the day. One word : Pathetic. Didn't even know why she made her way in the lineup. Having difficulty seeing this as metal, or even hard rock. People was mostly "boo"ing her.
11High on Fire

What else to say about their performance beside that it was heavy, "stoning" and excellent. Played equal quantity of songs from their different. albums
12Baptized In Blood

Three words : WALL OF DEATH. Beside that, didn't really like the music so will not comment about it. 2nd worst performance of the day.

Retentless assault of riffs, fast drumming, and delicious vocals. Probably the performance I was not prepared to see because I didn't really know them.
1436 Crazyfists

3rd Worst Performance of the Day. Nothing else to say
