What you once loved for a definite reason loses its appeal and all of a sudden you're left with nothing, wandering through your mind to find an answer. Why? Well, and you really want to love this album, you want to establish a connection with it the way you used to -but you just can't. I suggest to get into the more experimental side of metal, avant-garde. Black metal is full of excellent projects to explore as well-So is death metal, funeral doom metal is fantastic. Thrash would bore him, considering that. ^^^. Or just stay the fuck away from metal for some time, listen to pixies & bedhead & big black until you feel like headbangin' again. metal on, brother m/

And the last thrash band that created any sort of buzz was Vektor and they have black metal influences. Post/sludge and black metal are much more relevant than thrash and death today for what its worth.

Well, he still likes at the gated, maiden, sabbath and death, that means something. Maybe he's tired of listening the same shit over and over again, that's very common, perhaps he should stay away from the genre for 3 or 5 months and he should keep listening indie, hardcore, hip hop and more: I'm sure he will apreciete more some metal bands. Another solution should be diggind the most experimental side :Isis, Rosetta, Cult Of Luna, Neurosis or bands like high on fire and the baroness.
