10.26.11 | Lulu - Lou Reed Collaboration of the Year. |
Pharoh
10.26.11 | Should be ranked 4,7,2,1,5,8,9,3,6 |
Emim
10.26.11 | list is wrong as it contains more than 3 spots. |
AsoTamaki
10.26.11 | No way is Load the second worst, Pharoh. Honestly, I can't strongly disagree with rearranging the top 5 in any order. Not much separation in quality there. The others are where they need to be though. |
AsoTamaki
10.26.11 | Oh, it most certainly is. |
Valerius
10.26.11 | Ride the Lightning
Master of Puppets
...And Justice for All
Kill 'em All
Metallica
Load
Reload
Death Magnetic
St. Anger |
Valerius
10.26.11 | You are underrating Kill 'em All. I might be as well, but I enjoy Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and Justice for All more. |
Valerius
10.26.11 | And the best track on Kill em All is The Four Horsemen, brew. |
AsoTamaki
10.26.11 | Yeah. Kill was great, for sure. It'd definitely be higher if I were ranking based on how good it was in 1983 or whenever each record came out, but I don't think it holds up as well in the present day. Pretty much all of the subsequent Metallica albums sound very different from each other. Kill 'em All, on the other hand, is really just a less polished and mature version of what they ended up doing on Ride. |
Valerius
10.26.11 | That's where I disagree. Yes, it's got that old garage thrash sound and James' vocals are younger, but it's arguably their best record if you want thrash metal. The riffs and solos are simply killer in it. |
Valerius
10.26.11 | Hehe. Give it another spin man:) |
Valerius
10.26.11 | I might end up even rating Kill Em All their best. |
Valerius
10.26.11 | Actually, as I am spinning Kill em All again I think this is their best record. Basically, Metallica has gotten worse every record. |
AsoTamaki
10.26.11 | Eh. You must really just like that particular sound. Even so, I think there are a few other bands out there that did pure thrash better than Metallica. |
Valerius
10.26.11 | It's just straight up thrash. Killer thrash. I tend to listen to certain albums for a certain feel or mood I am in. When I listen to Metallica I listen for thrash, and Kill Em All has it. |
AsoTamaki
10.26.11 | True. It's definitely the most thrash Metallica album. When I want that sort of thing, I'll listen to Megadeth's first two albums, Heathen or even Exodus. |
Ovrot
10.26.11 | whoa whoa whoa whoa
fuck the rest of the list
did you just hate on metal militia? |
Valerius
10.26.11 | lol |
AsoTamaki
10.26.11 | Hey, it was either that or Whiplash. |
Zorak
10.26.11 | I disagree with everything about this list. |
Valerius
10.26.11 | The riffs opening up Whiplash absolutely own, man.
There is a feeling deep inside
That drives you fuckin' mad
A feeling of a hammerhead
You need it oh so bad
That's kind of the point. There is no bad song on Kill Em All. Not one of them. Every one of them you can headbang to, with killer riffs and solos. |

10.26.11 | I don't agree with your rating dude and with some of your best/worst choices but to each his own. |
Emim
10.26.11 | LULU |
AsoTamaki
10.26.11 | Seriously, Hans? The most offending portions:
Whoa. I love Escape and Eye of the Beholder, but that's okay since really none of the songs on those albums are bad and something has to be chosen. I'll pretend that's your reasoning.
Fixxxer and Devil's Dance and great songs. Fixxxer especially is one of their better songs of that era. Slither does suck, yes.
It's Electric is a 90s cover. Loverman is amazing.
Everything else I can agree on.
@acad: Are you referring to S&M or Lulu? As great as they are, they aren't studio Metallica albums. Sorry. |

10.26.11 | Kill 'Em All that low? You're fucking insane. It's their only album that doesn't get boring. |

AsoTamaki
10.26.11 | I've already explained this. Just about everything Kill 'Em All does, Ride the Lightning and Killing Is My Business do better. |
someguest
10.26.11 | Except Ride The Lightning is a boring album where Kill 'Em All isn't. |

10.26.11 | "Best non album track: The Ecstacy of Gold"
I thought that song was by Ennio Morricone |

10.27.11 | Haha.
Oh, and sorry, someguest. I was actually taking you seriously before. |

10.27.11 | "Just about everything Kill 'Em All does, Ride the Lightning and Killing Is My Business do better."
hey guess what, one of those isn't a metallica album. |
AsoTamaki
10.27.11 | Hey, guess what? One of those isn't on this list.
The point was that there are better albums with a similar sound to Kill 'Em All. I included one Metallica album and one non-Metallica album to back that statement up. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions. |
Emim
10.27.11 | "I'm ranking Metallica albums and am using an album by Megadave released two years after to justify an album's low ranking."

Gotcha.
btw, I never had a question to begin with. |
