10.10.11 | The only animated one I saw was Mask of the Phantasm and that was many years ago. Remember it being pretty good, though. |

10.10.11 | batman begins is highest because its the first use of ras and scarecrow on screen and its the first film to really go in depth on his origins and the mob side of things |

10.10.11 | what the fuck is wrong with you
batman begins is worse than all but the schwarzenegger-thurman-silverstone form the 90's quadrilogy
1. The Dark Knight
2. Batman 89
3. Under the Red Hood
4. Batman Forever
5. Batman Returns
6. Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker
7. Batman Begins
8. Mask of the Phantasm
9. Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero

begins>>Dark Knight
and besides, list is subject to change when tdkr drops |

10.10.11 | Forever and Returns are about equal. I only put one above the other because so many people think there's a huge disparity in the other direction.
People forget how awesome fruity, carnival-like Gotham was in Returns. Hate for the movie is overshadowed by Val Kilmer and Dr. Chase Meridian.
Forever had a wicked soundtrack and two pretty great villains. Riddler's fucking fortress was bomb as well. |
theacademy
10.10.11 | i combined the animated films because Under the Red Hood was so fucking good that I think it deserves to be considered a real movie. |

10.10.11 | fucking exactly. people are two quick to dismiss it because they bundle it up with the fourth movie |

10.10.11 | "goddammit how do you think batman returns sucked?"
I have my reasons:
First, i never liked the Penguin as a character and i could never take him seriously.
Secondly, Burton's directing approach isn't as darkly as the first film.
Batman talks too much.
Soundtrack is inferior. |

1. Penguin has had nothing but good portrayals in comics from the 80s and up. Too many people look at the old stuff for him
2. Nah, the film is a lot darker and more in line with some of Burton;s creepier work
3. slightly agreed
4. completely agreed |

10.10.11 | "forever was cool as a kid but now I see it was a joke."
The only reason to waste your time on "forever" is to see how beautiful Nicole Kidman used to be. A really bad actor with astonishing beauty at the same time. And that's the reason she made a career. |

10.10.11 | the first half of bb is amazing, but it devolves into a schlocky comic book movie with fear gas and other dumb shit.
dark knight + the animated series ftw. don't really care about the rest. forever ruled when i was like 9 and b&r is among the worst films ever made. |
Urinetrouble
10.10.11 | Scarecrow usually ends up a pussy in most of the comics by the end of his story anyways so spot on characterization there
I think Bane in TDKR has the potential to outdo Joker or at least do for Bane what Heath Ledger did for Joker |

10.10.11 | Sorry, but Joker > Penguin. Returns was not bad, but I just preferred the plot and characters of the first one. I agree with the top 4 in this list. Just in a different order.
Indeed. The 90s animated series is better than most comic-based films. |
Deviant.
10.10.11 | "Sorry, but Joker > Penguin."
Biggest problem with all the early Batman films is that they killed the majority of the villains. Penguin I don't care too much about, but killing the Joker was a terrible idea as was making him out to be the murderer of Brucie's parents |

10.10.11 | burton did a lot for modern bat comics along with frank miller so you cant deny his influencw |

10.11.11 | yeah i know, but my problem isn't with nolan, it's with the gritty tone. not to mention the fact that rebooting a series when the last installment was less than 5 years old is absolutely ridiculous.
i love the spider-man movies because they're fun and goofy. |
