!meshuggah!

The mighty Meshuggah from least mighty to most mighty!
7Meshuggah
Contradictions Collapse

Not much explanation needed. Meshuggah before they were Meshuggah.

Destroy Erase Improve

Pretty easy to see that I much prefer their later rhythmic approach to their earlier thrash stylings. Certainly an impressive achievement, nonetheless. 1. Future Breed Machine 2. Suffer In Truth 3. Sublevels
5Meshuggah
Chaosphere

Appropriately titled, easily the heaviest thing they've ever done. A bit all over the place, but the highlights are glorious and New Millennium Cyanide Christ might be the best thing they ever did. 1. New Millennium Cyanide Christ 2. Corridor of Chameleons 3. The Exquisite Machinery of Torture
4Meshuggah
Koloss

Remarkably impressive release at this stage of their career. Probably their most varied album to date, however, I must say that the "organic" production sounds like shit. The album is painful to listen to at high volume with headphones and the drums are 4 times louder than the other instruments combined. 1. Demiurge 2. Behind The Sun 3. Do Not Look Down
3Meshuggah
Nothing

Their first release showcasing their rhythmic approach and holy crap what a monster it is! The grooves are ridiculous and the songwriting is top-notch. Even though the re-issue has cleaner production, it's hard to get into since I've trained my ears to the original version after about 200 listens. On the downside, Spasm is one of the least interesting things they've ever done. 1. Rational Gaze 2. Perpetual Black Second 3. Closed Eye Visuals
2Meshuggah
obZen

obZen was definitely the biggest grower in their entire catalogue. Wasn't impressed at all on first listen but grew to love almost every second of it. Also has the best production on any Meshuggah album to date, along with 1. This band was meant to sound cold and mechanical, not organic. 1. Dancers to a Discordant System 2. Bleed 3. Lethargica
1Meshuggah
Catch Thirtythree

The best Meshuggah album and one of the singular achievements in all of metal. Words cannot describe how perfect this thing is. Every riff, every transition, every solo is flawless. The production is flawless and this is the career culmination of their rhythmic assault. Also, Sum is probably the most goosebump-inducing moment of their career. 1. In Death-Is Life/Death 2. Sum 3. Dehumanization
