03.09.11 | good list |
Blackbelt54
03.09.11 | not really a huge fan of either |
Tyler.
03.09.11 | thrice is wayyyy better imo |
eternium
03.09.11 | Can't decide between the two personally. Vheissu is the best album overall but both OK Computer and Kid A are close behind. |
Josh D.
03.09.11 | Both suck, bye. |
kingjulian
03.09.11 | btw I kept the first few comparisons fairly vague because I admittedly don't know a ton about Radiohead's first two albums or their early career hehe so sorry if I got something terribly wrong... |
KinkyFresh
03.09.11 | i only like the artist in the ambulance and beggars. well i've never heard vheissu. but i hate the alchemy index so i'll assume i hate vheissu. |

03.09.11 | "Vheissu is the best album overall but both OK Computer and Kid A are close behind."
hilarious |
kingjulian
03.09.11 | Listen to Vheissu just in case. It's the best Thrice record imo (tho I do like Kid A slightly better). |
hesperus
03.09.11 | I still refuse to believe that OK Computer is Radiohead's "magnum opus." Kid A is more cohesive, more evocative, more innovative, and more human. |
JustTaylor
03.09.11 | Beggars is the only thrice album that can compete with In rainbows, Kid A, OK Computer, HTTT, and Amnesiac. |
WithHorsesInHerEyes
03.09.11 | All Thrice records suck. At least I can listen to Radiohead, sometimes. |
erasedcitizen
03.09.11 | "Kid A is more cohesive, more evocative, more innovative, and more human."
Yeah but it's boring LOL |
kingjulian
03.09.11 | @hesperus: I like Kid A way more than Computer. I meant Magnum Opus more in the sense of Radiohead pulling out all the stops and making a "big" record, not necessarily the best record. |
hesperus
03.09.11 | Then I consider your analysis valid. |
blackholeparty10
03.09.11 | This is a really cool comparison actually. I am a HUGE fan of Radiohead but never really got into Thrice. I may have to check them out now |

03.09.11 | Don't. |

03.09.11 | Radiohead for me, but Thrice is still such an outstanding band. |

03.09.11 | Thrice for everything. |

03.09.11 | The fuck? |
Crimson Death
03.09.11 | Radiohead is more accessible. (Shut up fanboys, it's true). Thrice gives me drive and motive and I feel a greater personal connection. While Radiohead are great musicians, it's great to relax to, it doesn't really get me going. Thrice is very versatile, you have tracks like "Red Sky" and "Image of the Invisible" on the same album. Whereas Radiohead seems to be more linear. Sure the style and tempo changes, but it's hardly drastic.
"i only like the artist in the ambulance and beggars. well i've never heard vheissu. but i hate the alchemy index so i'll assume i hate vheissu."
Vheissu is WAY better than Alchemy Index, and you must listen to Illusion of Safety. |

03.09.11 | list is so sputnik. |
UnnamedOcean
03.09.11 | I'm sadly getting tired of both bands. |
willfellmarsy
03.09.11 | very good list though obvi thrice is more a trend follower while radiohead is a trend setter...i mean thrice was post hardcore when post hardcore was cool, shifted to more experimental when that was in style, then moved on to a more, i'd say boring but sing-songy, mainstream reaching now...and to crimson death, there's so much stupid in your comment...thrice is perty much the most accessible post-hardcore band ever (image of the invisible is radio rock, even if thrice did it) while radiohead are only more accessible to the music fanatic, not to the mainstream public (put kid a on for anybody that's into the mainstream, they won't like it...put on anything off beggars and they'd be like woah this band's super awesome)...im not too big a radiohead fan but, too put it simply, thrice will be forgotten, while radiohead most likely won't (i myself am not too big a fan of either, but come on now)... |
Crimson Death
03.09.11 | Oh and Identity Crisis is better than Post-Vheissu Thrice. ^ lol, Radiohead is mainstream, while someone will look at Thrice and say "Oh no it has screaming". |
Rev
03.09.11 | This is a cool list
BTW, Riley (Thrice's drummer) is a huge Radiohead fanboy |
willfellmarsy
03.09.11 | Bullet for My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Linkin Park, Limp Bizket...all have screaming...you're still stupid... |
qwe3
03.09.11 | "Kid A is more cohesive, more evocative, more innovative, and more human."
you're saying Kid A is more human than an album that was designed to sound specifically unhuman? (intentionally didnt say inhuman js)
you go too far |
chaseguitar
03.09.11 | 2>1, 4>3, 6>5, 7>8. can't really pass much judgment on the rest. welp goyz, I guess thrice is better. |

I haven't got into Thrice yet

03.09.11 | Not a very big fan of Radiohead, but I've heard most of their albums. In Rainbows has always been the most impressive in my book. |
gabethepiratesquid
03.09.11 | I care for Thrice more than Radiohead, but this was a really cool read
thank you for making the list, OP |
kingjulian
03.09.11 | Thanks for all the positive feedback, guys. I've always found these correlations between the two bands interesting and it's nice to know I'm not the only one haha and I must say that I enjoy Thrice a little more than Radiohead as whole but I respect Radiohead a little more than Thrice as a whole... if that makes any sense... |
NeroCorleone80
03.09.11 | I prefer Thrice, never cared for Radiohead |
BigHans
03.09.11 | Pretty interesting correlation, nice work. |

03.09.11 | Appreciate the effort but it's kind of a moot point IMO.
Radiohead: Certified Platinum US 4 albums UK 5 albums
Thrice: ? |
Wolfhorde
03.09.11 | Thrice, isn't it that religious band everyone is fapping over? Oh right, it is. |
kingjulian
03.09.11 | @omnipanzer: this is just a comparison of the two bands; I'm not trying to make some statement about which is better. I already said in the description that I'm well aware of the fact that Radiohead is... well I don't have to re-type it, you can see for yourself. |
IAmHollywood
03.09.11 | I think Thrice is more accessible IMO |
omnipanzer
03.09.11 | I didn't read your opening paragraph, my bad but I'm still confused as to why you would even compare them. I just got done with your list wand was confused about why you would even bother. As I said before I can appreciate the amount of effort you put in which is way beyond the normal amount and should always be appreciated when done to good effect (which it has here). It just seems like a monumental waste of effort. I don't get the angle and maybe that's best left to Thrice fans? |
kingjulian
03.09.11 | The list is simply remarking upon the amusing parallels between the two bands' careers (or how the majority of people view them), especially once you get into Kid A/Amnesiac/Alchemy Index territory. It was fun to write and think about and nothing more, so for me the effort isn't wasted. There is no statement being made here (aside from "i hope Thrice's next album is proportionally as good as In Rainbows"). Thanks for appreciating the effort that was put in, though. The list being irrelevant to you (and andcas apparently lol) is fine with me. It didn't need to be.
btw, it's always refreshing to interact with sensible people who actually have an interest in communicating about things on here. |

03.09.11 | well thrice is actually good, so.... |
dawija3
03.09.11 | so many worthless comments on here lol ... its cool though i never really thought about those 2 bands in comparison, but i really like both...i liked thrice up until the alchemy index 3/4, i have false hope for their next album; and radioheads pretty much always enjoyable to listen to, mind that kid A and hail to the thief sometimes make me sleepy, but their newest album King of Limbs is amazing. excellent production quality and they went for a flying lotus kind of feel. i think for all the kids that are just like "both R bAd" you need to sit down with a badass pair of headphones and give both of these bands chance. expanding your mind to new/multiple genres really gives you the edge over music instead of shutting yourself out and commiting to a single genre; eh hem, punk rawkerz |
AnotherBrick
03.09.11 | 1. the alchemy index is incredible
2. the king of limbs is absolutely awful |

03.09.11 | Thought this list was going to be stupid as all get out, but I see the points of comparison. Nice job. |

03.09.11 | Thanks, man. I was sort of afraid of getting crucified for this or something; glad it went well. |
MarvellousG
03.18.11 | This was really, really interesting; I love both bands, so I'm actually a little astonished/embarrassed that I hadn't realised any of these similarities before. Great list, probably the best I've read on Sputnik so far. |
