10.09.10 | I'm seeing them December 1st I believe.
I sympathize with you, I had to miss one of my favorite bands earlier this year. |

10.09.10 | Yeah just got back from Harvey's. Made the night a little better.
If anyone hasn't check out 1 yet, I highly suggest it. |

10.09.10 | They're playing Michigan shows the next two days as well, can't hit up any of those shows? I went to Empire! Empire! tonight in Midland, will be seeing La Dispute in Kalimazoo on Sunday. |

10.09.10 | Probably gonna catch their set at Fest if nobody else is playing...kinda had my fill of La Dispute shows though so idk... |

10.09.10 | I'll be in Austin two days after they will. And I'll be missing Circa Survive and Dredg in a few weeks, so I know how it feels (trust me). |

10.09.10 | Not only did I not go to the LD show, I missed Empire! Empire! even though it was like 4 minutes from where I live. Ended up going out for my birthday and watching the Wings' season opener.
How was it farva? |
Satellite
10.09.10 | Oh, and I missed Envy/Touche Amore/Trash Talk the night before. |

10.09.10 | suuuuuuuucks.
i love your profile pic though. |

10.09.10 | Their shows have basically been a ton of 16 year old idiots crowding around Jordan and ignoring the fact that there are 4 other dudes in the room playing music. |
Satellite
10.09.10 | Jordan's typically the only one in the middle of the crowd, js. Not like frontman worship is anything new. |

10.09.10 | Not the best set for Empire!, they hadn't practiced with the fill-in bassist and it showed. Still awesome, mainly because they dedicated the last song to me (I did an interview with them). I ended up talking to them for something like thirty minutes, got some merch, a free Mountains for Clouds album (they had a great set). Keith will be hooking me up with Count Your Lucky Stars records to review for my website. So that part was incredible.
Opener was atrocious though. I thought I was being punk'd. |

10.09.10 | How was the venue? I heard some not-so-great things from a couple friends who played there recently. |

10.09.10 | I love the whole band, Vass is really cool as well, talked to him for a while once. |

10.09.10 | The art on the walls was cool. Sound was iffy, but not too bad. I've been to better and worse. Very open, lots of space. |
marksellsuswallets
10.09.10 | Maybe it just gets to me too much since I've just been too overexposed to the 16 year old Evangelical Youth Group kid crowd that La Dispute seems to be attracting as of late...eh. |
Satellite
10.09.10 | yeah, they were complaining about the acoustics mostly. my response was basically that with how lame the Midland music scene has always been, we need all the venues we can get. |
mmfarva
10.09.10 | I don't even know much about the Midland music scene. The two bands that opened for Empire! and MfC a few months ago we are the only ones I've seen. |
mmfarva
10.09.10 | Also, @mark, I hear you. I felt old at the Bled Fest set. |
Satellite
10.09.10 | yeah, i mean i've seen some good shows over the years (this metalcore band made up of some kids i went to hs with called and the sky went red used to play at the elk's lodge fairly regularly), but venue-wise there's not much.
"I felt old at the Bled Fest set."
ha, this. |
mmfarva
10.09.10 | I wonder how many of the kids at the shows have heard Vancouver. I almost feel dirty with all the underage girls in the crowd. Maybe I just happened to stand in the worst spot by the stage. |
IRAI
10.09.10 | my friends/bandmates decided to go roadtrip without me to one of LD's shows up northerly this weekend.
we tried to get on one of these shows with them ever since they were posted 'TBA' everywhere a few months ago. didnt work out in the end (due me working this weekend and not taking it off in time. boo me, right?)
i wouldve just skipped out on work anyway if i knew. |
marksellsuswallets
10.09.10 | Last time I saw them was at a church (go figure) with Touche Amore. It was basically just the aforementioned 16 year old girl swamping of Jordan and Touche were just pissed off that they were actually inside a church I guess. They slept under their merch table for most of the show. |
Yordy
10.09.10 | I didn't even know there was a venue in Midland, I moved there a couple months ago. I usually go to The Loft in Bay City for shows. It's the only place I really know of around here. And I really didn't know Empire! played last night. Damn, I just pulled a mega-fail yesterday. |
mmfarva
10.10.10 | They've played in Midland twice over the last few months, one at this upstairs yoga place, another at this art place called the Creative 360. They're just makeshift venues really. |
