| Grim Faces In Cold Places
I've been getting back into black metal lately. These are some of the records I've been digging. | 1 | | The Black Twilight Circle Tliltic Tlapoyauak
i recently found a pro-tape version of this, and it makes it even better before. It's cool to see the newer and older generations together, and every band here displays the talent the BTC has become known for. Recommended highly for black metal enthusiasts. | 2 | | Mors Atra Crucis I
raw black metal from George Proctor of White Medal fame. Melodic with a punk stomp. | 3 | | Odz Manouk Odz Manouk
raw black metal, with off-kilter riffs that almost make you feel uncomfortable. But that's a good thing. | 4 | | Salvaticus Hidden Manna
pretty straightforward black metal. The songs about 9 minutes long but will keep you thoroughly entertained thanks to some cool acoustic interludes and tempo changes | 5 | | Sejr Demo
blackened punk from the dudes in Iceage | 6 | | Akatharsia Demo
another black metal/punk hybrid, but these guys don't just focus on speed and simplicity. there is some nice depth to this collection of songs that makes it stand out from other albums of its kind. oh, and it's another project from mike of fell voices | 7 | | Axeman Arrive
if you haven't listened to this already, SHAME ON YOU. | 8 | | Cara Neir The Overwatch
not strictly black metal, but its main influence. combines the black metal/screamo of their lps with the brevity and aggression of their sublimation therapy ep | 9 | | Black Beasts II
raw black metal/punk/noise ... kicks ass | 10 | | Dommedagssalme Terra
self-described as "astral black metal" ... more like "ASStral black metal", amirite? just kidding, this rules. it's ambient black metal, where the celestial ambiance takes the forefront, creating a very meditative atmosphere | 11 | | Dross I & II
mid-tempo black metal with a focus on repetition and melody. still harsh, but easy to like | 12 | | Arizmenda Within The Vacuum Of Infinity
a modern classic in my opinion | 13 | | Carved Cross Futile Reflections of a Failed Existence
one of the most inaccessible black metal bands out there. that being said, if you can get over the repetition and the production, this is a very rewarding listen. | 14 | | Circle of Ouroborous Kuuhun Kahlittu
one of the most underrated black metal bands out there today. this is one of their heavier releases for sure | 15 | | Kuxan Suum Kuxan Suum
another project from the guy who does arizmenda. kuxan suum delves pretty deep into psychedelic realm and it really creates a unique sound. one of my favorite modern bm "groups". | 16 | | In Thoth In Thoth
just straight up black metal with a nice, filthy production | 17 | | Moonknight Senmorta
blackened thrash. simple and mindless and therefore, enjoyable. | 18 | | Taut Fantasty Mapped In Blood
raw and torturous slow-paced black metal, but REALLY FREAKING GOOD | 19 | | Sump Taken Dead
you should know how these guys are by now | 20 | | Cirrhus Cirrhus LP
the most epic mixture of black metal and punk ... these guys have such an awesome sound | 21 | | Sexdrome Grown Younger
once again, you should know who this is by this point | 22 | | Furdidurke Native
catchy and punky black metal | 23 | | Pantheon I Worlds I Create
pretty much the complete antithesis of everything i've posted so far. really technical and well-produced black metal... that never takes away from how great it is though. there is also pretty prevalent use of the cello, but they make it work in a way that is not horribly cheesy | 24 | | Summoning Stronghold | 25 | | Miserere Luminis Miserere Luminis
some seriously underrated canadian black metal. very atmospheric, much -post | |

08.03.14 | now this is what i call a fuckin list, you've actually reminded me of a few things i aint picked up yet. Mainly the Furdidurke 7 inch and the sexdrome tape (still only got the split with sump) actually have 2 currently en route as i put a massive order in with legion blotan a couple of days ago :) also dude where you get the rip of the pro tape version of tliltic? I've got the original tour press tapes but am curious to hear how the remaster sounds as the cd and vinyl editions have just came out. Just wondering if it's worth my while getting them as i already paid a decent amount for the originals | ChoccyPhilly

08.03.14 | I checked back at where I got it from Chris, and it's actually the same version that you have haha my bad.
Thanks Philly! I've actually been meaning to check it out since I read that review. And haha yes as hard as it is to believe I kind of fell out of love with black metal for awhile. | MoosechriS
08.03.14 | Ahh no worries dude, given the punky bm tones of your list you may want to check the woes demo i just put up on ptc. Another awesome band from legion blotan | TheSpirit
08.03.14 | legion blotan seriously rules so hard. everything they put out rips | ChoccyPhilly
08.03.14 | Same link applies to you too, Chris | MoosechriS
08.03.14 | Peeped the review and it sounds cool dude | Grimlin
08.03.14 | you may have heard this one, but if not, you should give Wulkanaz – Paúrpura Fræovíbôkôs a go. it's black, eccentrically punky, raw, weird, and drugged out. all good things.
and kudos on the Kuuhun kahlittu inclusion. a good one by them for sure. | Chortles
08.03.14 | 2 and 9 look really cool | TheSpirit
08.03.14 | Check them out man, they rule! Also, sup Kane? Nice to see you around here. I'll definitely check that out, it seem right up my alley. And yes, this is definitely one of my favorite CoO releases in a while. | Grimlin
08.03.14 | shit, just lurking about. how goes it? | RiffOClock
08.03.14 | liked their split with tukaaria but never bothered to check out odz manouk themselves, thanks for reminding me
like almost all bands i recognize (sump, axeman, cirrhus, sexdrome). downloaded that in thoth album 'cause it's the only one i managed to find :D | TheSpirit
08.04.14 | Sweet man, hope you dig em |
