Hans' Obligatory 2011 List

Some great albums this year. Im kind of dissapointed in the lack of alot of rad metal albums though. Anyway, top 30.
1Steel Panther
Balls Out

I know you think I'm kidding. I'm not. Album of the year faggots.
The Hunter

Was never a big fan until this. Enormously melodic and still badass.
3The War on Drugs
Slave Ambient

Equal parts Petty, Springsteen, U2, and the Killers. Absolute Americana ownage.

If you would have asked me after the first time hearing this I would have said it was one of the best 50 Hip Hop albums ever. Has worn off a tad but its still Goddamn stunning.
5Bon Iver
Bon Iver, Bon Iver

This did not dissapoint. Calgary, Perth, Beth/Rest, and Holocene ftw.
6The Horrible Crowes

Gaslight frontman does it again. Behold the Hurricane, Go Tell Everybody, and Lady Killer are Godly songs.
Hurry Up, We're Dreaming

My unironic love for 80s pop isn't exactly a secret.
Worship Music

In a down year for metal this was a pleasant surprise. The Devil You Know ftw.
9Fair to Midland
Arrows and Anchors

The choruses to Golden Parachutes and Short Haired Tornado. My God.
10Mac Lethal
North Korean BBQ

A stunning tribute to an early mid life crisis.
11Red City Radio
The Dangers of Standing Still

This only has 39 ratings. I command you to go forth and jam if you have blood in your veins. Enormously melodic yet not gay punk rawk.
12Foo Fighters
Wasting Light

I was shocked at how good this was.
13Frank Turner
England Keep My Bones

Might be his best album if not its 1a.

Badass stoner rawk. Check out the song Bleeding Out. Thanks Greg84.
15Fucked Up
David Comes to Life

Turn the Season might be song of the year.
16Black Tusk
Set the Dial

Half Hardcore half Stoner Rawk. Beastly album.
Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang

The thing I remember most about this was Hawks giving it a 3, changing his mind to a 5 and jizzing all over it hardcore, then quitting Hip Hop. Its a good album by the way.
18Wu Lyf
Go Tell Fire to the Mountain

Wanted to hate this so bad cause its so fucking hipster but damn its good.
19Tech N9ne
All 6's and 7's

So theres this song called Worldwide Choppers.
20Chuck Ragan
Covering Ground

Hot Water Music frontman gives us a totally bodacious acoustic punk jam.
21Times of Grace
The Hymn of a Broken Man

Can't see how anyone can hate this. Killer melodic metalcore album.
22Big K.R.I.T.

Took me way too long to get around to this but yeah its great. The Vent ftw.
23Manchester Orchestra
Simple Math

Liked it more at first but a damn solid indie album.
24Frank Ocean
Nostalgia, Ultra

Whats that word you damn kids use that starts with an S?
Old Raves End

Never thought I would like this.
26The Dear Hunter
The Color Spectrum (Complete Collection)

Well isnt this just ambitious as all fuck. Honestly it gets too long but when a 36 track album has at least 25 good songs that is quite an achievement.
27Limp Bizkit
Gold Cobra

my favorite review Ive done.

For that 80s influence brah
29Red Fang
Murder the Mountains

30Asylum On The Hill
Passage to the Puzzle Factory

Has some filler but some badass cuts. Check out the song La Pistola fucking m/
