And he brought me into a vast farmlands of our own midwest. And as we descended, cries of impending doom rose from the soil. One thousand, nay a million voices full of fear. And terror possesed me then. And I begged, "Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?" And the angel said unto me, "These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots! You see, Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day and to them it is the holocaust." And I sprang from my slumber drenched in sweat like the tears of one million terrified brothers and roared, "Hear me now, I have seen the light! They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! Damn you! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers!" Can I get an amen? Can I get a hallelujah? Thank you Jesus. |

Many a fat alley rat had met its demise while staring point blank down the cavernous barrel of this awesome prowling machine.
Truly a wonder of nature this urban predator.
Tommy the cat had many a story to tell,
But it was a rare occasion such as this that he did.
"She came slidin' down the alleyway like butter drippin' off a hot biscuit.
The aroma, the mean scent, was enough to arouse suspicion in even the oldest of Tigers that hung around the hot spot in those days.
The sight was beyond belief.
Many a head snapped for double - even triple - takes as this vivacious feline made her her way into the delta of the alleyway where the most virile of the young tabbys were known to hang out.
They hung in droves. Such a multitude of masculinity could only be found in one place...
And that was O'malley's Alley.
The air was thick with cat calls (no pun intended),
But not even a muscle in her neck did twitch as she sauntered up into the heart of the alley.
She knew what she wanted.
She was lookin' for that stud bull, the he cat.
And that was me. |

What makes religion so repulsive to me is that is DOES NOT ACCEPT ANY SORT OF PROGRESS. It has a set way of doing things and even when proven to be blatantly wrong (i.e. evolution, most of science) it still holds onto its old, useless ways.
Religion is roadblock to progress. Science, while of course it doesn't have all the answers, at least TRYS to actually figure it out rather than coming up with some stupid contrived story that makes absolutely no sense in the modern world. Science flourishes on proving itself wrong over and over and over.

08.26.11 | I think "Christians" need to be more open minded. I was raised to be one, used to be one, and have been surronded by them all of my life. I am currently undergoing a thing called the truth Project with some of my friends who are steadfast Christians, because it makes me think and I enjoy this stuff thorougly. The problem however, is they feel in order to be Christians, they need to believe EVERY SINGLE WORD OF THE BIBLE IS TRUE, and thus are forced to pigeon hole things to fit the scripture and refuse to believe anything else.
Example:
Me: I think Noah's Ark is implausible and should be treated as a methaphorical lesson, not an actual event described the way it is in the Bible
Them: Noah's Ark happened exactly as it did in the Bibile
Me: What about Dinosaurs
Them: Dinosaurs were on the Ark
Me: Impossible
Them: Dinosaurs lived at the same time as man because they had to because the Bible says the earth is only 1000 years old.
Me: You actually belive that?
Them: yes
Me: I believe in God but we'll just have to disagree.
Them (in their head, not saying it outloud): he's going to hell for sure. |

08.26.11 | I may be an atheist but I'm absolutely fascinated by the evolution of western religious constructs and how they start out as one thing and morph into something completely different based on the ever changing lives and politics of faith of the people who practice them. Whenever I get into religious debates or conversations with my friends I've learned not to be so hardline in defending my position but to sit back, listen and offer suggestion in ways for said friends to look at their faiths in different ways since for most of them it's just this black and white static presence in their lives. I really think that the prolonged use of the term "The Living Word" has in a way stilted modern Christianity because while in one sense it is true that the core teachings of the new testament are just as valid now as they were millennia ago for Christians, there is a universal loss of context which I think is both limiting in how one perceives their faith and dangerous because of the political implications in misinterpreting symbolism in the modern evangelical movement.
TL;DR - I don't believe in a god but am not bothered by those who do, although when it comes to books like the bible historical context is important in its message which I think some people forget or think is no longer relevant. |

08.26.11 | The Bible is an extremely important document in the evolution of literature and art, and there are lots of pretty cool stories in it, but I think the trouble comes from people who actually try to derive their morals from it. |

08.26.11 | The bible is a good compilation of old myths and the book of revelation have definitely some lines that suits perfectly into metal epic imaginary.

08.26.11 | right on Feit,
Qwe, what I was trying to get at is from what I gather alot of Evolutionists subscribe to the single celled organism theory thus proclaiming their stance on the explanation for the origin of life. Furthermore, from what I can tell very few proponents of evolution belive in intelligent design. Guess thats what I was aiming for. |

as books go the bible would not be a bad place to start for the sake of completeness and inspiration. Of course you would be missing roughly a century and a half of social evolution but I can think of worse places to start. |
