11.24.09 | Dont fuck with 1979. |
ninjuice
11.24.09 | Chuck Berry basically ripped off himself in the intros to Johnny B Goode and Roll Over Beethoven.
Sum 41 ripped off Metallica's Battery with Bitter End but they did admit it. |
Ire
11.24.09 | Carcass - Death certificate Papa roach last resort, i think. |
Parallels
11.24.09 | dream theater totally ripped off wither's guitar solo from queens bohemian rhapsody. |
Yotimi
11.24.09 | I don't think 1979 is that similar. 8 and 10 are complete plagiarisms though and 5 is pretty close too.
Check out Radiohead's Karma Police and The Beatles' Sexy Sadie. |
Yotimi
11.24.09 | Oh and Manchester Orchestra's "I can feel a hot one" and Neutral Milk Hotel's "The King of Carrot Flowers Pts 2&3" (intro riff). |

11.24.09 | Hah, pretty funny list, although most of it is almost documented as true. Especially the George Harrison and Nirvana. I got two more for ya:
In Flames - The Hive (came first)
Atreyu - Right Side of the Bed
Raekwon - Have Mercy
Atmosphere - Say Hey (came first)
Just discovered that last one today. The funny part is, the very next song on OB4CL2 starts with the line "rappers steppin to me, they want a brick son." Over a decade earlier, Atmosphere released a song called Guns and Cigarettes which starts with the line, "rappers steppin to me, they wanna get some"
This can't be coincidence right? I mean, those songs have the EXACT same beats... |
ninjuice
11.24.09 | lol read the comments |

11.24.09 | i didn't know about 10.... |

11.24.09 | would somebody seriously check out the Atmosphere - Raekwon thing? These other songs sound alike, but in this case they actually took the same track and just adjusted the EQ. Listen to it. It's like that Crazy Town ripping off Chili Peppers thing (only I don't think Raekwon actally admitted it). Cause Crazy Town didn't even play a note of that song themselves, just sampled it. |
Satellite
11.24.09 | Green Day...
"Brain Stew" blatantly rips off Chicago's "25 or 6 to 4."
"Horseshoes and Handgrenades" plagiarizes the fuck out of the Hives' "Main Offender."
"Warning" rips off the Kinks' "Picture Book."
"American Eulogy" rips off THEIR OWN SONG "Deadbeat Holiday," which probably rips off something else. |
Satellite
11.24.09 | Oh, and the Strokes' "Last Nite" is definitely reminiscent of Tom Petty's "An American Girl." |
TRMshadow
11.24.09 | Kittie - My Plague
Lamb of God - Laid to Rest

Meow Mix Jingle

11.24.09 | ^well, that one's actually documented. I just hate the ones where they don't actually admit that it's a cover/sample/ode to the original. |

11.24.09 | didn't Harry chapin write "Father and son"? i know cat stevens sang it....
Cigarettes & alcohol by oasis has a very similar riff to a t-rex song, can never remember what it's called. Also, shakermaker by oasis supposedly ripped off a song called "I'd like to teach the world to sing" which used to be in a coca-cola ad. Noel got in trouble for that, and now he only drinks pepsi. |
Baphomet
11.24.09 | Sum 41 - The Bitter End / Metallica - Battery |
Yotimi
11.24.09 | Fireflies - Every Postal Service Song. |
ReturnToRock
01.28.10 | -Nirvana: "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
It pains me to accuse this song of ANYTHING (best song ever written, and all that), but THAT riff is basically the same as "Godzilla" by the Blue Oyster Cult.
- REM: Losing My Religion
Riff is identical to Eagle Eye Cherry: "Are You Having Fun"
- The Cult: "Li'l Devil"
Riff is identical to AC/DC: "Rock And Roll Singer"
There are more, of course, but these come to mind immediately. |
ReturnToRock
01.28.10 | OH YEAH
Puddle of Mudd - "She Hates Me'
Nirvana - "Lithium"
THEY'RE BASICALLY THE SAME DAMN SONG!!!!! |
BrandNewBoognish
01.28.10 | I really hope the returntorock guy isn't accusing R.E.M. of ripping off Eagle Eye Cherry even though that EEC album came out in 2000 and Losing My Religion is from 1991 |
ReturnToRock
01.28.10 | No, no, the other way around! |
