Best Albums 2000-2009

My personal top 10 albums of the first decade of the 21st century
10Opeth
Blackwater Park

Just a breathtakingly beautiful album. Truly a masterpiece and a landmark of music, no matter which perspective one views it from.
9My Chemical Romance
The Black Parade

I realize this will be a very controversial decision, but this is a beautiful concept album with great musicianship and its just a really enjoyable listen all the way through.
8Streetlight Manifesto
Keasbey Nights

I know this is kind of a cheap shot, seeing as it's a virtually note-for-note cover of an album from the 90's, but Tomas Kalnoky really brings back all the energy, good vibes, and creativity that made the original so special.
7Cage The Elephant
Cage The Elephant

This album possesses the same trait that all my favorite albums have, deep feeling. Cage's way of expressing their feelings is much different than most of the other albums on this list. This album is full of loud, rebellious, good old rock n' roll, and Matt Schultz and his crew aren't afraid to tell you that they're pissed off.
6Vampire Weekend
Vampire Weekend

Pretty much the definition of a great summer album. The Cape Cod theme running through this album fits the music like a glove, making this some of the most relaxing, fun music around. Not to mention these guys are damn smart.
5Saves The Day
In Reverie

A lot of fans were pissed when this came out, but being brand new to the band when this came out, i didn't care one bit, and this remains an amazing album with no filler.
4Saves The Day
Stay What You Are

Pretty much the same as Dog Problems here. An incredibly catchy, emotional pop-rock album that grabs hold of you and leaves you in a dazed state at the end.
3Animal Collective
Merriweather Post Pavilion

A cool, strange, accessible, fun, immersive, groovy psych-pop album, just amazing from start to finish, Animal Collective really perfected their sound here.
2The Format
Dog Problems

An amazing listen from beginning to end, every time. Catchy, intelligent, and heartfelt, this is an album that just oozes emotion.
1Between the Buried and Me
Colors

This album embodies everything that an amazing progressive metal experience should be. It manages to be both delicate and hard hitting at once, and is a very thought- provoking piece. A must- listen for any fan of metal or progressive music.
