Fast and the Furious Series ranked

The first 3 films just turned up on Netflix, so of course I re-watched them, and it got me thinking about the whole series in general. It's the best action franchise of the 21st century that isn't owned by Disney, after all.
1Don Omar
Don Omar Presents: Meet the Orphans

Fast Five - Revitalised the franchise and turned it into the ridiculous entertaining brainless spectacle we all know and love. It's just generally one of the most fun action movies ever made.
2Limp Bizkit
Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water

The Fast and the Furious - Sure, it's basically just a Point Break remake, but it's better than it has any right to be. It's simultaneously the platonic ideal of B-Movies while also being a snapshot of all the questionable hairstyle, clothing and music choices of the early millennium. Truly an era-defining film.
3Soundtrack (Film)
Furious 7

Furious 7 - Even if you didn't grow up with this series, the tribute to the late Paul Walker still brings all the feels. RIP.
4Ludacris
Chicken 'N' Beer

2 Fast 2 Furious - I hated this movie when it came out. But it grew on me and became one of the most rewatchable movies in the franchise. There's no lull in the action and while the plot is the simplest in the entire series, but I'll admit I've definitely tried the cocky "eye contact with the girl while driving and not looking at the road thing". I survived.
5T.I.
Trouble Man: Heavy Is the Head

Fast & Furious 6 - If Fast 5 turned the franchise from a movie about streetcar racing to a 'roided up heist movie franchise this movie solidified the template by being a completely competent action movie that's 100% entertaining if you know what you're getting yourself into (and really 6 movies into this franchise you should know what you're getting yourself into).
6Pitbull
Rebelution

Fast and Furious - The fourth movie in the franchise is generally unremarkable but it is notable because it manages to get the band back together. It also solidifies the themes of family and loyalty which are the cornerstones of the franchise.

Fast & Furious 8: The Album

F8 of the Furious - I'll admit that this entry in the franchise was a bit stale. The action setpieces have been getting progressively more ridiculous since F5 but ain't nothing sexy about racing a submarine and the apparent real-world bad blood between The Rock and Vin Diesel clearly affected the chemistry of the cast. Also those Charlize Theron dreads. Yikes.
8DJ Shadow
The Private Press

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift - The third F&F movie made is chronologically the seventh movie made and features a 24 year old actor who looks 34 playing the role of a 17 year old high school student. This movie is bad, but it's so bad it's actually kind of enjoyable. It's also the movie with possibly the best actual car-racing scenes. Weird.
