My top ten songs of '09. Enjoy. | 1 | Between The Buried and Me Swim To The Moon
I honestly cannot find a flaw with this song. It's never too technical for technicality's sake, and over
it's near third of an hour runtime, it never gets boring or stale. Truly an artistic feat in the stagnant
genre of prog metal. | 2 | Scale the Summit The Great Plains
Something about this song just makes it epic to me. The first half being flowing guitar sweeps, and
the second being tranquil tapping melodies, the song just flows beginning to end with ease and
precision. | 3 | The Number Twelve Looks Like You The Garden's All Nighters
The best track in The Number Twelve's discography, save for MAYBE Civeta Dei. Incorporating grind,
jazz, and... samba? Into one track is craziness. The fact that it works is pure lunacy. | 4 | Brand New Vices
Not only the song everyone thought that Brand New would never make, but the song that possibly
defines "Daisy" as a whole: Unexpected, frantic, catchy, and fucking erratic. | 5 | Emery Cutthroat Collapse
For the sole purpose that this was the first track off of "In Shallow Seas We Sail" to be released, and
it marked a VERY welcome return to form for Emery after an absolutely dreadful performance on "I'm
Only A Man." | 6 | Every Time I Die Turtles All The Way Down
My favorite off of their best album yet, and Pete Wentz is actually a complete badass on this track. | 7 | BATS Higgs Boson Particle
Little more than an intro track, but it shows what BATS are all about: Weird static riffs, dual vocals,
cowbell, and SCIENCE. | 8 | Anaal Nathrakh Satanarchrist
This puts every shitty black metal band to shame, and brings teh epic metuhlz. In a good way. | 9 | Gallows Crucifucks
The title alone is enough to win it a spot here, but the fact that the song is pure aggression and fury
helps. | 10 | Knives Exchanging Hands A Box Full Of Legos And Good Intentions
Not only an amazing showcase of what deathcore should be, (fuck you WVAskittle) but also a great
way to end a great band's career. Be sure to check out the cover of Deftones' "Hexagram" as the
hidden track here. | |
Comatorium.
11.18.09 | Here it issss. Hopefully it wont change. | BigTuna
11.18.09 | 1 is never boring, but it's a bit of a wankfest. I still love it though. | Comatorium.
11.18.09 | Wankfest or not, it amazed me how it never bored me, considering half of the tracks off of Colors got stale pretty quickly, and i've listened to TGM all the way through around a dozen and a half times, and I'm STILL noticing new little things that continue to entrance me. | RamsesII
11.18.09 | WE HAVE BEEN UN-ABLE TO I-DEN-TI-FY THE PAR-TI-CLE SEEN IN THE IM-AGE BE-LOW. | Comatorium.
11.18.09 | Ramses wins. | DiceMan
11.18.09 | I like Daisy more than Vices. But Vices really shows more of the direction Brand New has gone on their new album. Daisy is just really amazing. Cutthroat Collapse is brave and it aren't afraid of anything. I haven't listened to anything else on here cause i'm not really into that much met4l. But everything else is good. | Comatorium.
11.18.09 | When i first heard Cutthroat Collapse i just breathed a sigh of relief. I thought Emery was doomed. | botb
11.18.09 | 1 is my least favorite on the album tbh | DiceMan
11.18.09 | Yeah. My favorite song off of that album is definitely the third or the sixth. But the entire first half is excellent. A couple bad songs on the last half really drag it down tbh. Also, I was kind of shocked because it was the first Emery I'd ever listened to. Their harsh vocalist sounds really unique. I got used to it after a while though. | Comatorium.
11.18.09 | You need to listen to the question, then go back to the weak's end. | ziroth
11.18.09 | 1-5 are great | AmericnZero02
11.18.09 | I still can't manage to pick my favorite track from ...In Shallow Seas We Sail. Every track on that record is solid. | TheyTookOurJobs
11.18.09 | i feel stupid to have not heard any of these | blindsided21
11.18.09 | I think the first 6 or so minutes of number 1 are pretty boring. Everything after that is amazing though. 2 is really good and I just recently fell in love with 3. | Inveigh
11.18.09 | Turtles All The Way Down was my favorite off New Junk Aesthetic the first time I listened to it, but The Sweet Life has grown on me so much, it would be hard for me to name any other song off that record as tops. | Comatorium.
11.18.09 | 3 didnt stand out to me until i saw it live, now its my favorite track off of WTA. | Comatorium.
12.06.09 | Irepress- Diaspora should be on here... |
