Pennywise_M 07.04.13	I see. Anyway not the right thread to do so but anyone seen The Purge? If so, drop some thoughts about it. Fav movies would have to be uhm: I Am Legend, The Man From Nowhere (Korean Movie) , The Pursuit Of Happiness (really like Will Smith) , Zombieland , 28 Days Later + 28 Weeks Later , Alone (Possibly the best K-Horror movie i've seen) , Orphan and Shaun Of The Dead. These are just a few at the top of my head really. Anyway i like a good movie, regardless of genre. But the genres i go for the most are comedy and horror.

Acanthus 07.04.13	The Purge was good, because once the dogtags were shown the social commentary just pulled out its cock and smacked the audience in the film for the rest of the film. Did a lot better with the film than I thought, was happy I went to see it.

Pennywise_M 07.05.13	Wreck it Ralph was surprisingly good for an animated movie, and oh yeah Life Of Pi was amazing!! Hey guys i just finished watching Warm Bodies, its a comedy crossed with a romance, about a zombie falling in love with a girl etc. I had read that it was pretty good, but i cant tell you enough on this. It's incredible how they can make such a stupid plot work so well, i guess thats its stupidity that makes it all the more enjoyable. It's kinda like Twilight but ya know, good. They implemented just the right amount of comedy in there to not make it feel extremely silly in its seriousness and oh boy, did i enjoy that movie. Highly recommend it and this certainly is one of my favorite movies this year till date. 8/10

Have yet to finish one of his (tried Wild Things and Fantastic Mr Fox, gave up before the end both times.) Ghost in the Shell was also a bit of a letdown, and David Lynch and I don't get along. Have been meaning to watch Three Colours for ages, own them, but never saw them :$ Akira, Shawshank and the Kubricks I agree with.

"Wes Anderson is way overrated" "Wes Anderson I find super-pretentious-for-no-reason." I think he makes modern masterpieces. So much of the ambiance of his films are in the silences. All his shots are framed so beautifully and I love his dialog. I didn't LOVE Moonrise Kingdom but it was a fucking beautiful movie. I'll watch it again just for the cinematography and set designs.

So why the scene in the attorney's office? Why the extended scenes of them eating or fighting? (HAHA look they act like animals! xD) Why the whole subplot with the Scandinavian emo-jock cousin? Why the extended scenes of characters digging and flailing their arms because "lulz"? I kept imagining what Pixar would have done with that film...

If you're gonna watch other lynch films Elephant man is an obvious choice and Eraserhead is fantastic and my favorite. Also nice list and major props for Seven Samurai

TMobotron 07.06.13	Inland Empire is great but yeah long and a little challenging. Lost Highway rules too. I like Eraserhead a lot but more as a technical achievement - I think a lot of his other stuff works in ideas from Eraserhead in a lot more viewable ways.

eleventhsun 07.06.13	Maniac remake was very surprising, brutal stuff. Amazing soundtrack (best I've heard in years) The Conjuring was decent for a mainstream ghost movie. The VHS movies were both pretty entertaining. American Mary was a good indie Canadian movie. John Dies at the End was wacky. Detention was pretty surprising.

eleventhsun 07.06.13	There are tonnes of good horror from the last few years. Martyrs, Inside and Frontiers were all French horror that destroyed our North American stuff. Just seems the major studios push out crap in that genre.

eleventhsun 07.06.13	I think Conjuring is in theaters. I saw a screening. It was decent, nothing to freak out about but much better then most mainstream stuff. The others I named are much more intense. VHS has it's moments. 2nd one has my favourite segments. Twin Peaks is classic. Best intro music ever, when it ends on those sinister minor chords ahhhh!! legendary.

ZombicidalMan 07.06.13	I thought Hugo was quite overrated. It was definitely very beautiful, well done, and well acted, but it got more praise than I personally think it deserved. Being a huge Alien fan I was let down by Prometheus. The beginning was really well done, and it had that nice air of mystery to it, plus a great cast. Michael Fassbender was absolutely perfect as the android. But as you said, after about halfway it took a turn for the worse. Still, it was cool seeing the alien ship, so eerily similar to that of the first movies.

TMobotron 07.06.13	yeah that part was pretty cliche and it's definitely a flawed movie but the visuals, grandiosity and mystery kept me captivated as hell from start to finish.

eleventhsun 07.06.13	The thing with Lynch is that he has been able to establish a style and brand his films in a fashion that when you're watching you know it's Lynch. As a filmmaker that in itself takes a level of skill. He may not be a great storyteller but he is quite a competent visual director.
