rabidfish
09.28.18 | always thought lifting was boring af lol... could never get into it.
i prefer short circuit work-outs with a group cuz i'm lazy but kinda competitive too, so having people around me to compare myself to helps a lot. |
DirEnRefused
09.28.18 | @affable, dude i literally just two months prior blew out my shoulder benching, you have my sympathies.
the thing that helped me was not leaving it alone in the end, i had to dedicate myself pretty much nightly to rehabbing it, it just wasn't improving through rest |
Cygnatti
09.28.18 | I do not lift, but im tryin to my guys. |
MO
09.28.18 | damn that's a big total for your body weight, nice! 1325 is my total
good luck on the comp dude |
DirEnRefused
09.28.18 | haha, thanks for the kind words. i think i have a sort of inferiority context because i lift with absolute savages who've been at it for a decade and have nationally competitive totals, but overall i'm proud of where i've gotten to so far.
MO, you're a big lad, what's your training look like at the moment? i've been running an upper lower with a ton of volume for the last six months, dedicating a day to front squats and a day to back squats finally got me over the four plate hurdle |
DominionMM1
09.28.18 | two days of nothing but squats? damn dude that's some willpower right there |
DirEnRefused
09.28.18 | oh god no; more like five to eight sets, i do back work and some bodybuilding fluff afterwards, i'm not trying to end my life quite yet |
neekafat
09.28.18 | I dont lift anymore but I think my max was like 165 which is only good because I weigh like 120 |
neekafat
09.28.18 | Squats I could kill at but I dont remember that max |
MarsKid
09.28.18 | Not a lifter, runner here. Muscles are toned but I'm not gonna be setting any bench records soon lol
I log 20 or more miles per week, with ab and arm work outs throughout on intervals. Generally, one day is 5 miles devoted to running at a faster pace; next run is 7 miles at my normal/race performance pace; after that I split, doing 5 miles in the morning and 5 more in the afternoon; then the next day is 6 miles with no timer--just enjoying the run. Then the cycle begins anew.
I swim and bike to break things up to get some cross-training in, and I do a full/active rest at least once a week. Recovery is the most forgotten aspect of exercise in my opinion. |
Deathconscious
09.28.18 | Id love to lift and run, my spine is too shitty though, so im stuck with cycling. |

09.28.18 | "MO, you're a big lad, what's your training look like at the moment?"
honestly it could be completely refined, I haven't changed up too much in a while, which has affected some of my lifts. I feel like my squat could easily be 50 lbs heavier
I hit squats one day, working sets up to 405 and do 3-5 reps. deload for most of the rest of my leg workout. deadlifts work up to 450 and do 5*5 at that weight. chest I normally do volume 275 for 7*3. then a day for arms and shoulers, bit of core thrown in there.
for my weight my lifts should be much higher, but life gets in the way of that lol |

09.28.18 | fuckin life eh
I could def go back to being 100-150lbs higher on my lifts but not a priority anymore |

09.28.18 | Ever since I moved 2 months ago I haven't stepped foot in a gym :( just try to keep my diet and cardio in control.
For 2 years before though, I was doing some powerlifting routines. Not even comparable to you lol, 1200 is an amazing goal dude! good luck. I started with the beginners 'ice cream fitness' that had you squatting 3 times a week among other things. Luckily had no injuries besides a sprained ACL. |
Divaman
09.28.18 | I recline. |

09.28.18 | used to lift before i started a new job last year but i just quit recently and im lifting again

09.28.18 | I haven't lifted in a month 😭😭 |
DominionMM1
09.28.18 | it's been a few weeks for me too. gonna try total body workouts for a bit and see how it goes. |
DungeonBoy
09.28.18 | I used to pretty diligently 10 years ago but I got so burnt out on it man. The gym is not the place I want to spend my life. I do basic calisthenics 3 days a week for around 45 minutes at my house, and it keeps me functionally strong and fit. |
guitarded_chuck
09.28.18 | dedicating say 4 hours of a 168 hour week to optimizing your health is surely not too much to ask |
DungeonBoy
09.28.18 | Yeah man, you get it! 3-4 hours tops to stay in shape a week is a good balanced amount in my book. |
Egarran
09.28.18 | So what are yall lifting outside the gym? Shopping bags? Beer kegs? |
Deez
09.28.18 | Tried so many times but the gym, weights, Lifing bores the fuck out of me. Im also terrified ill not be able to stop myself hastagging #GAINS over instagram photos.
Used to box, Did BJJ for a few years, Now I look like an advert for african charities....but white.... |

09.28.18 | I always carry a weeks worth of groceries in one trip, including cat litter, boxes of seltzer water, and gallon jugs of water. whatchy'all got on that? |
DungeonBoy
09.28.18 | @Deez Yeah man, I did muay thai and some BJJ for a few years and I've never been in more excellent shape in my life |
sucellus
09.28.18 | the most i have ever deadlifted was 400lb, just shy of 4 plates
my goal is to deadlift 500lbs
but i have 4 herniated discs so it's a stupid goal |
supremejelly
09.28.18 | @deezer I always thought lifting was incredibly boring until I got into compound lifts. That's where the fun is imo |
Rowhaus
09.28.18 | gotta lift always |
Egarran
09.28.18 | Damn straight db, I can carry 2 15L cat litter bags at least 100 meters. |
WretchedCacophony
09.28.18 | does taking it in the ass count as a work out? asking for a friend |
Egarran
09.28.18 | That's what soldiers do between wars. As is my historical understanding.
So no. |

this so fucking hard, I didn't think it was boring so much as a chore. but with compound lifting it's so much better |
GhostB1rd
09.30.18 | Literally just buy a combo pull up / dip station, two 45 lb. plates and weight belt and you'll be stronger and leaner then 99.5% of the population. Lift heavy every three days. For legs just do hill sprints. |
DominionMM1
09.30.18 | ^definitely something to be said for that |
GhostB1rd
09.30.18 | And if you're a tiny fucker or on juice just buy additional plate(s) as needed. Nobody needs more than four if you're a human. |
GhostB1rd
09.30.18 | Lol just trying to imagine doing a 390 lb. pull up with my 6'4" pterodactyl wingspan there'd be no fucking chance. |
Egarran
09.30.18 | On juice? Is it that normal? |
Thalassic
09.30.18 | I've been lifting since I was 17. I'm 6'1 and weigh about 207 lbs. Not really into powerlifting, because I'm a bit cautious with my back (back issues run in the family). More into muscle growth. Currently I can bench between 287 lbs to 308 lbs in sets of 8 to 10 reps and between 330 and 352 lbs for 3 reps. |
