Across The Dark

No One's First And You're Next
I was skeptical of this until I learned it was B-sides and rarities from their last two albums. Knowing that makes this a lot more enjoyable somehow. I really like about half of this album, and feel pretty meh about the other half, which is how I felt about pretty much all of their last album so I guess it's an improvement. | |

07.25.09 | I was actually trying to keep metal out of this list since that's pretty much all I ever include... but I gave up near the end. I will have to see how Insomnium's new album grows on me. Tracks 1 & 2 are superb, 3 is just bad for Insomnium (musically and vocally), 4 has clean vocals that actually work, 5 and 6 are good but nothing spectacular, 7 starts off with a riff modern-day IF would dream up but improves... and the closer is possibly the weakest closer they've come up with. The finale to ATWW, in contrast, was orgasm-worthy. Not bad though I guess. | drydenbannedagain
