RE Village Boss and Locations Ranking

Overall a fantastic addition to the RE universe. Maybe not as traditionally horror-based as 7, which might emerge in time as the better game, but still loaded with tons to see and do and all the charm we've come to expect from RE. A hard 9/10 for me and an easy GOTY contender atm. Just now diving into mercenaries. I just hope the game gets the same degree of DLC treatment as 7 did, and that it isn't just mercenaries and RE:Verse, which honestly looks pretty mediocre and along the lines of what RE3 remake did with its awful Resistance.

1. Heisenberg: None of the bosses are particularly hard, but this one is at least very cinematic and fun, with a satisfyingly cool death blow.

2. Propellerhead: Very unique design. The fact that he chases you throughout the level and you find lore bits about him leading up to this battle really adds to the overall appeal - plus it's the most challenging fight in the game, for whatever that's worth lol.

3. Moreau: Straightforward more or less, but visually compelling and that acid attack really caught me off guard and admittedly messed me up a bit. Easy once you know how to avoid his deadliest attack, but I appreciate the likeness to Bloodborne boss design with this one.

4. Mother Miranda: Definitely a better final boss than Evelyn, although the gravitas and overall challenge of the fight felt pretty lacking. Was hoping for some truly ridiculous shit to happen. Her design is among the coolest in the franchise though, and the boss arena was tops.

5. Lady Demitrescu: Her transformation is cool and the boss arena is maybe the best in the game, but this fight was pathetically easy tbh. Still, top marks for setting and build up.

6. Giant Werewolf (Hammer): A solid fight overall, bit of a bullet sponge tho. The enemies helped make the fight more tense.

7. Angie & Beneviento: I mean, it's a puzzle boss without the puzzle, which is honestly really disappointing. Was hoping for something a bit more terrifying and eventful considering how great her domain was.

8. Giant Werewolf (Mace): Super dull fight honestly. Just a huge bullet sponge that you laser a few times. Wish they'd done something a bit more creative here.

1. Castle Demitrescue: Hands down the best location in the game. This is gorgeously designed and I can't even begin to imagine how long it took artists to create it all. High ceilings with fancy trim running the walls alongside carved and painted moldings and gilded wainscoting, rooms completely stuffed full of belongings and adorned with Victorian decorative arts and lavish tapestries and draperies. It blends even more than just traditional Victorian style tho. There's also a good bit of Greek Revival with classical round columns and statues, as well as Art Deco and Baroque. The artists get full marks for this castle. It really seems like more love and attention was given to this location as opposed to some others. I just wish there was even more to explore - legit, the entire game could have taken place here and I wouldn't complain.

2. Beneviento Estate: The only downfall is the journey is too short. I wish that trip down the well extended to a larger section or something. Otherwise, this is where the game gets 99% of its scares. I was anticipating the jump scares the whole time and they still got me pretty hard. The hide and go seek chase with the giant fetus was pure nail-biting anxiety, I just wish they did a bit more with it. Would have been cool if they developed it into a proper boss. It's worth noting that no shooting happens for the entire duration of this chapter, which is pretty damn cool.

3. The Village: The titular village connects in a very satisfying way you might expect of a main hub-area of sorts in an RE game. I like that you explore more and more of it as the game moves forward, instead of all at once. Makes it feel bigger than it actually is, and also highlights how solid the lighting engine is, to see it at different times of the day.

4. The Factory: Heisenberg's factory is a pretty solid time. Don't let its ranking here fool you - nothing about it is bad per se, and it houses my two favourite bosses in the game, but it also feels a bit.. Slight. I think it could have been larger, with more exploration and scares along the way. The steampunk aesthetic is incredible for sure tho, just was over a bit too fast.

5. Moreau's Fishing Village: This area didn't do much for me at all. It's only one spot below the factory but they're worlds apart in ranking in my mind. Probably the shortest, least connected, least fun to explore area in the game. Some pretty badly rendered textures become way too noticeable here and it's over in like 25 minutes even with full exploration.
