Music Of The Break
During Christmas break, I decided to check out as many bands on my music list as possible. Stopped yesterday so I could digest this stuff instead of rushing through it. Here's what I got. |
1 | | John Frusciante The Will to Death
3 |
2 | | Thursday Waiting
Wanted to get this since Thursday is one of my favorite bands. Not very good but showed potential. 2.5 |
3 | | Pedro the Lion It's Hard to Find a Friend
One of Dustin Kensrue's favorite bands so I naturally wanted to hear it. I don't get it. 3 |
4 | | Paramore Brand New Eyes
Ridiculously catchy and pretty original for pop punk. 4 |
5 | | Beastie Boys Solid Gold Hits
Amazon had it for like $2, been needin me some Beastie Boys. 4 |
6 | | Amorphis Silent Waters
Haven't listened to it much, but wasn't too impressed. |
7 | | Dustin Kensrue Please Come Home
Thrice's frontman's solo album is reason enough. Not up to typical Thrice level, but still enjoyable. 3.5 |
8 | | Mono You Are There
I don't have a ton of post rock, but this is simply amazing. The only problem is that the second half drags a bit. 4.5 |
9 | | American Football American Football
Awesome chill-out indie. I think more vocals would have been better, still love it. 4 |
10 | | As Cities Burn Come Now Sleep
This is REALLY good. Not sure how good, but I really like it. The guitar lines are genius and atomsphere is great. Not to mention the lyrics. at least 4 |
11 | | Godspeed You! Black Emperor Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada
Good but it hasn't clicked for me like F#A#. 4 |
12 | | Chevelle Sci-Fi Crimes
Enjoyable mainstream rock. The hooks are great but eventually it all starts sounding the same. 3.5 |
13 | | Coldplay X&Y
Have Parachutes and Viva La Vida, decided to get the middle stuff. Needs some more listening but seems a bit safe for Coldplay. |
14 | | Jimmy Eat World Futures
Being not a big fan of pop punk, I like this. 3.5 |
15 | | Dredg El Cielo
Needs some more listening as well, but so far this seems vastly overrated. |
16 | | mewithoutYou A to B: Life
Again, gotta listen to it more, but I am already starting to like and I can tell its a grower. |
17 | | Sleepingdog Polar Life
Youaremysilence's soundoff convinced me to listen to this. One of my best decisions in recent memory. Hauntingly beautiful and atmospheric, creative yet accessible. 5 |
18 | | Right Away, Great Captain! The Eventually Home
Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra's side project. More people need to hear this, probably gonna be a 4. |
19 | | The National Boxer
Really, really good indie rock. At least a 4 |
20 | | Sun Kil Moon Ghosts of the Great Highway
Only listened to once so far, but I think the songs are too long without enough ideas. |
21 | | Cursive The Ugly Organ
Need to listen to |
22 | | Death Cab for Cutie The Photo Album
Going deeper into their discography, sounding pretty average for them though. |
23 | | Belle and Sebastian If You're Feeling Sinister
I love this album. Catchy yet deep indie/pop. Minimum of a 4 |
24 | | Maybeshewill Sing the Word Hope in Four-Part Harmony
Still gotta listen to |
25 | | miscounted by one |
