Top 5 Post-metal Albums Of 2008

In response to some of my own writing in my "Bird of Prey" sound-off I figured I would elaborate on my choices for top five best post-metal albums of 2008.
Bird of Prey

Brutal music that earns it, with incredibly powerful vocals and lyrics. A infinitely more organic sound than what is to be found on "Harmonic Tremors." A great album because it so easily achieves its purpose - what else can you ask of well-written and performed music?
4Cult of Luna
Eternal Kingdom

A heavily under appreciated album by unsung warriors of the post-metal genre. Where many only give this credit as being another consistent release by the band, the subtle evolutions of their sound coupled with the enthralling storyline taken out of a insane man's diary make this a particularly interesting listen.

Criminally underrated band who did their homework and made the complete transformation from a mathy, screaming grind act to a post-metal effort. The dense atmosphere that trademarks their sound, although nothing new to the genre, is executed very well for their short time playing it.

Incredibly ambitious post-metal that continues to refine the ideas that made the genre famous.

Incredibly innovative post-metal band that has a lot of fun in SoCal. Their latest album is brimming with original and interesting ideas and the band really puts forth the effort to execute them well.
