11.17.11 | best show of the year not counting Coachella was easily the Flaming Lips at the Hollywood Cemetery, closely followed by Death Cab's set and Peter Bjorn and John at the Echo (the tiny venue definitely helped). | wabbit
11.17.11 | Klap 4 puns
Awesome list probably 1/5th of the number of shows Adam went to so well done. | klap
11.17.11 | Adam's garage bands don't count :0 | Aids
11.17.11 | Godspeed doesn't get a mention (in your first comment)? oh man that was easily my show of the year and the best I've ever seen. nice list though, I have one like this coming. super jealous of Manchester Orchestra, I still need to see them.
and Death Cab were pretty meh when I saw them (but I think we've been over this).
"Awesome list probably 1/5th of the number of shows Adam went to so well done."
you are obsessed with that guy | CrisStyles
11.17.11 | Saw Manchester Orchestra last week, they were unbelievably good. | DoubtGin
11.17.11 | i envy you | klap
11.17.11 | godspeed would be right behind the ones I mentioned btw, I just have more attachment to Death Cab, the Lips were unbelievable and PBJ surprised the shit out of me | johnnyblaze
11.17.11 | I also envy you. Man, did Coachella ever have an awesome line up.
Did the Lips play any originals or just Dark Side? I was also blown away with them this year - I actually cried during Do You Realize? and had no shame in doing so. I also framed some of the confetti I collected from the ground afterwards with a photo of Wayne in his ball. | Aids
11.17.11 | word. The Flaming Lips were a bit of a disappointment when I saw them. They were meant to play all of The Soft Bulletin plus some other hits (Do You Realize etc.) but it was a festival and they weren't the last act of the day (Modest Mouse played after them) so there was no wiggle room with their time. They were about 20 minutes late, so between that, Wayne Coyne's random ramblings (I love his stage banter don't get me wrong) and the Sasquatch organizers deciding to bring out a cake and sing Happy Birthday to the festival (10 years wooo), they didn't even get through all of The Soft Bulletin. What they did play was magnificent of course but overall the show was disappointing. I wish they had the last time-slot so they could've played into the night. | klap
11.17.11 | They played all of Dark Side and then like five originals (the big hits).
Aids i also think flaming lips were the best because of the setting (a legit cemetery, with like massive crypts and they allowed you to bring in blankets and food/drink/alcohol) and the amazing stage show they had. | Aids
11.17.11 | "(a legit cemetery, with like massive crypts and they allowed you to bring in blankets and
food/drink/alcohol)"
holy shit fuck you that sounds amazing
and yeah, thier stage show was 10/10 when I saw them for sure. Wayne's hamster ball for the
motherfucking win.
@johnnyblaze - haha I pocketed some confetti as well, I should do something cool with it. I wonder
where it is actually I hope I didn't throw it out.... | johnnyblaze
11.17.11 | That's freaking awesome.
I didn't get anything from The Soft Bulletin, which was really dissapointing cuz it's my favourite of their albums. What is the Light? or Race for the Prize would've been incredible. | Athom
11.17.11 | actually i'm pretty sure this is more than me. | Ire
11.17.11 | Saw The Flips on 6/18
oh my god best show ever | Ire
11.17.11 | They didn't play anything from Clouds but they did play Is David Bowie Dying?, Race for the Prize, What is the Light and the Observer
Marnie Stern was an awesome opener | Deviant.
11.17.11 | Man, that Escape from Wonderland lineup is horrible | mallen-
11.18.11 | Really want to see Arcade Fire and Yuck
Haven't seen much of anything this year:
Streetlight Manifesto/Reel Big Fish
A Wilhelm Scream/No Trigger
Titus Andronicus
Dropkick Murphys/Chuck Ragan
Guster was here but I couldn't go :( | klap
11.18.11 | yuck was legitimate, nothing amazing but great energy. arcade fire at coachella was obviously awesome |
