| Dir En Grey Albums Ranked
2nd favorite band behind Katatonia. | 1 | | Dir En Grey Withering To Death
This album makes me wanna dance tbh. Merciless Cult is a strong album opener reminding me of early Linkin Park, to C where the chorus makes me go crazy, i mean this album is a feel good album in a twisted sense. Oh and The Final which is my favorite song by them. | 2 | | Dir En Grey DUM SPIRO SPERO
Their most consistent album to date. Just some dark twisted songs unfortunately mixed in with some deathcore in the vein of benighted, but benighted does it waay better. Throw in some Blut Aud Nord-ish atmosphere channeled in a different way and you have a unique experience. | 3 | | Dir En Grey Uroboros
They literately throw everything but the kitchen sink into this record. And thats the problem, too many different types of songs, from Opeth-ish/Blut Aus Nordish atmosphere channeling to Funk metal to above-par alt metal tracks, the broken flow making it a huge hassle to listen through in one setting, but each song is good-great, especially vinushka which is probably objectively speaking the most work they probably put into a song | 4 | | Dir En Grey Gauze
Anime Dir En Grey, their first album, just straight up classic poppy visual Kei rock done well. You can just feel that 90s visual kei across your skin while listening to this album. | 5 | | Dir En Grey Vulgar
Good album with some strong songs, shokubeni which is Dir En Grey's version of forty-six and two, audience killer loop which is commercialized black metal almost, very varied. And Marmalade Chainsaw which is one of Dir En Grey's criminally underrated songs. | 6 | | Dir En Grey Macabre
Part Anime Dir En Grey, part twisted psycho funky Dir En Grey. Myaku is a song i just despised until I "got" it. The horrible vocals, the ridiculous main rhythm, the cheesy poppish chorus, once you get that the song was made by psychotic mad men that deserves to be in a mental institution, it all just made sense. But overall the album is low-solid, some solid songs(Wake, hotarubi, last 3 songs) but ultimately I didnt feel most of it | 7 | | Dir En Grey Kisou
Only song I can feel on this album is Filth which is another criminally underrated song in the vein of myaku. | 8 | | Dir En Grey The Marrow of a Bone
SHIT album except Conceived sorrow, The Pledge, and to a very very lesser extent, Repetition of Hatred, the number one thing i hate about this album is the production, sounds garagey, dunno how they went from Withering to death to this and then to Uroboros, but whatever. | |
