Top 10 First Half Of 2013

I know June isn't over yet but I'm pretty sure I found everything I wanted to find up to now.
10Killswitch Engage
Disarm The Descent

A collection of really solid Metalcore songs. Nothing fancy but solid.
9Fallujah
Nomadic

The fact that this is so short keeps me from putting it higher. Tech/Death with melody and emotion is a rare thing.
8Boil
aXiom

Thank you greg84 for making me discover this band. Think of it like Tool, Fair To Midland and Tesseract had a kid.
7Hope For The Dying
Aletheia (LP)

Maybe not as well written as their precedent album. Still some incredible moments to be found in this Symphonic/Technical Metalcore album.
6The Dear Hunter
Migrant

Isn't quite on the level of Act III and The Color Spectrum to me. Still some magic moments to be found on songs like ''Girl'' and ''Bring You Down''.
5Soilwork
The Living Infinite

The only real problem I can think of for this album is the vocals, which are solid but nothing more. Besides that, the riffs are fast and groovy and the little experiments don't feel superfluous.
4Sevendust
Black Out The Sun

This album is Lajon Witherspoon's. The way this guy sings makes ''average'' songs like ''Picture Perfect'' and ''Cold As War'' so much better than they really are. The album also contains some of the band's best songs to date: ''Faithless'', ''Decay'' and ''Got a Feeling''.
3Anciients
Heart of Oak

Prog without being self-indulgent, extremely coherent and melodic. With time this could go even higher.
2Bring Me The Horizon
Sempiternal

Maybe it's just because the improvement is so huge, but this album really impressed me. It's really simple but it's really passionate and layered. Some instrumental moments like in ''Go To Hell, For Heaven's Sake'' or ''And The Snake Starts To Sing'' really made me question if this was the band that wrote awful songs like ''Diamonds Aren't Forever''.
1The Ocean
Pelagial

The thing I hate with this album is the song titles which are a real b*itch to remember. Other than that, I can't find much to dislike here. I'm not a big fan of the last 2 songs which are more doom/sludge type tracks (not really my style). That can change with time too. This album is intense, technical and beautiful, often at the same time. Favorites are ''Mesopelagic: Into The Uncanny'', ''Bathyapelagic: Impasses'' and ''Abyssopelagic: Signals of Anxiety''.
