"super mario bros: the lost levels teenage mutant ninja turtles (the first one)" I don't think The Lost Levels were quite as difficult as a lot of people made them out to be, but they were certainly hard as shit. Definitely agree with TMNT, though.

WashboardSuds 02.14.12	one of the hardest games I've ever played is this obscure survival-horror game called Illbleed. I probably just suck at it but I've had it for years and still can't beat the first stage.
Crymsonblaze 02.14.12	I don't think FFVI is especially difficult really. The war parts where you split up your party are pretty tough but other than that it's not really a hard game. Contra, Battletoads, Super Star Wars, and Zelda II, definitely. All the Mega Man games are ridiculously hard. And the game Battle Kid which is basically a new NES game very similar to Mega Man. It's brutal.

wabbit 02.15.12	there is a difference between "hard" and "unfair" though. Old games were designed to eat quarters it wasn't that the mechanics of what you were doing and the thought process behind it was super involved they were just not fair (go play the first prince of persia game). It's really easy to make a game that is essentially impossible to beat but it is really hard to make something that is hard but without it simply being the games fault. That's why link to the past is one of the best games ever. It was SO hard and long and complicated but whenever you died you knew it was because you forgot to block or throw a bomberang or some shit like that you never felt cheated and that's what really made you play it everyday for a couple years.

Easily the hardest Final Fantasy, at least out of the main games (unless XIII-2 is hard, I haven't played it yet). The DS version of Final Fantasy IV is a close second. But these really aren't hard as much as cheap and require hours and hours of grindage.

PayneTiger777 02.15.12	I thought Demon's Souls was much harder than Dark Souls. I beat almost all the bosses without any help in Dark Souls (all but that spider bitch). The original Devil May Cry was harder than DMC 3 imo. One of the hardest games I've ever played was Shinobi for the PS2. Very frustrating.

Demon's Souls (and especially it's newer and incredibly easy baby sister Dark Souls) Difficulty is majorly overrated. if you play a mage those games are piss easy. How to beat Demon's Souls= kriss Blade + 5 + Wooden catalyst = Spam Homing Souls Arrow How To beat dark Souls= Logan's catalyst = Spam Crystal Homing Souls Mass or Crystal Spear.
Crymsonblaze 02.18.12	Contra is like the only game that I've ever bettered myself at because it was ridiculously hard. The one time I beat it without the Konami code I was so proud. It'll never happen again.
Inveigh 04.05.12	Battletoads and Bart vs The Space Mutants were two ridiculously hard ones from my childhood. Also the first Final Fantasy game, but that might have had something to do with me trying to beat it at age 6/7 or something. old Mega Man games were hard as fuck too.
