Some '09 Goodness.
Some awesome '09 releases and other good stuff I got this year. |
1 | | The Faceless Planetary Duality
Wow. I'm surprised how complete this album is, very solid. |
2 | | Young Widows Old Wounds
Can't believe I passed up on this for as long as I have. Extremely underrated album. |
3 | | Intronaut Prehistoricisms
Again, can't believe I've been missing out on this. Fucking phenomenal. |
4 | | Goes Cube Another Day Has Passed
Nothing quite like this, they do a little bit of everything. Metal, alt-rock, post-punk, etc. |
5 | | Iron Age The Sleeping Eye
Thrash-doom? I didn't think it was possible either. Also some pretty rad solos on this album. |
6 | | Isis Wavering Radiant
They seem to move things along a little quicker on this album, which is a plus for me. |
7 | | The Number 12 Looks Like You Worse Than Alone
On par with their previous releases despite only having a single guitar attack. "Out there," catchy, and
powerful simultaneously. |
8 | | Poison the Well The Tropic Rot
These guys are like fine wine - always getting better with time. I loved the density and sheer
experimentation of Versions, the range of YCBY, and the rawness of Tear from the Red. The Tropic Rot
takes the best qualities of all and weaves them into a more stripped-down sound. |
9 | | Sonic Youth The Eternal
Has an earlier Sonic Youth feel, very rockin'. Vocal interplay between Moore and Gordon seems more
active. Impossible to stop after starting, it flows perfectly. |
10 | | Born of Osiris A Higher Place
Not as bad as everyone makes this out to be. This would be perfect for anyone getting into the genre, as it
offers listeners just about everything (except good vocals). |
