12.11.19 | Quadraluv is different. Every single sound engages and stimulates me; the progression locks my mind into flow for the full runtime, and that’s been true since I first heard it. Like the previous tracks, a strong melody is essential, and this one has become embedded in my brain tissue. It evokes a mixture of intertwined feelings: deep curiosity and mystery; being captured by searching until you lose sight of the destination; the freedom of a directionless life. Whenever I experience these emotions, I hear the melody of Quadraluv in my head. This element is counterbalanced by sighing frequencies, then pushed forward by a percussive motor system. A bassline circulates as gorgeous synth pads flow underneath. The “random” ticks feel intuitive and essential to the track’s logic. It’s a masterpiece of futuristic world-building, capturing what it’s like to be blissfuly adrift.
Then there’s the depletion sequence. The movement halts in the final minutes to drain out any remaining sensation. Channeling both a drug comedown and the small death post-climax, it’s one of the most engrossing payoffs I’ve ever heard. Quadraluv is my favorite electronic track. It immerses me like nothing else this decade, with a melody that’s forever engrained in my subconscious. An inimitable journey. |

12.11.19 | Looking forward to diving into some of these, lots of entries I'm unfamiliar with.
Before We Talked is my favourite cut from Lucky Shiner but unless I'm misremembering, it was the album that got me interested in electronic music.
Blanck Mass but no Fuck Buttons? |
NOTINTHEFACE
12.11.19 | I have been waiting for someone to do something like this. I've been in a major electro mood lately and sput just isn't giving up the goods atm as far as recs.
2 is an amazing album but by the time that track comes around I'm usually feeling pretty drained, so it never really grabbed me. On the other hand, Delorean Dynamite and Swing Star would easily make it onto my personal top 10 of the decade. |
luci
12.11.19 | @anatelier: "Olympians" would definitely make it but Tarot Sport is 2009. I'm in the clear! |
dedex
12.11.19 | I need to listen to more electronic stuff, but the tracks I like here (4, 10, 11, 12, 14, 18 in the top 20 only) are incredible. I will check some of the others. |
anat
12.11.19 | So it is! I thought it was '10 |

12.11.19 | bookmarked ahrd |

12.11.19 | 11 is electronic? In any case it's a good pick, my favorite Grouper track and maybe my favorite ambient song in general. |
luci
12.11.19 | @boney: I consider ambient drone as electronic, this track is mostly synthesizer. Very spacey and atmospheric, defines "nocturnal" for me.
@notintheface: I listen to inspector norse independently. never understood why it's tacked on the album like it's a bonus track |
Trifolium
12.11.19 | Oh luci 2, 3 and 5 are amazing agreed. Great list. |
luci
12.11.19 | hi trif! what's your fav track this decade? |
Sowing

Sinternet
12.11.19 | everyone knows can't do without you is the prime caribou pick smh |
luci
12.11.19 | kaili and can't do without you are my fav songs by him, I went with a non-vocal pick here |
Sinternet
12.11.19 | oh damn i should read, fair shout then |
Chortles
12.11.19 | gorgeous! that top 20 is mwahh, but i still don't get 7. your description for s.t. is so good, it's very much the first thing to latch onto in the album and it feels so good when it comes. i've said this before but 5 is basically the song that made me love electronic music. good stuff |
luci
12.11.19 | "Is This Power" was big for me too, my first Field track. 2010 had a pair of LPs that got me into electronic (Four Tet and Caribou). I only started obsessing over the genre from 2017 onwards though. |
Pangea
12.11.19 | Inspector norse is probably my #1 good list |
Atari
12.11.19 | nice looking list. I'll check out some of the most accessible/gateway picks that you highlighted |
luci
12.11.19 | i think you'd like "angel echoes" by four tet atari: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tpe4id7cLnU |
climactic
12.11.19 | cool list. luci have you listened to Loidis (huerco s side project)? more in the vein of that overmono track. |
luci
12.11.19 | i adore that loidis ep! considered "in the place i sit" over "promises of fertility". he's put out so much great stuff across his aliases |
Deviant.
12.11.19 | Nice one dude. Smiled when I saw Last Land show up. Still adore that tune |
Avagantamos
12.11.19 | I've had 25 stuck in my head all day
meow meow meow meow meow Love Cryyyyyy |
Yotimi
12.12.19 | agree with so many of these. probably at least a third of these will be on my list, and another third of these artists with different tracks (but you probably already know this) |
Yotimi
12.12.19 | Chortles you need to come around to Lorenzo (although Rave Voyeur is the one that hits me the hardest) |
luci
12.12.19 | i do haha. i consult your rym lists every now and then, they've been influential here |
luci
12.12.19 | closest call here was the nico jaar pick. "why didn't you save me" would land in the same spot |
Yotimi
12.12.19 | picking the best Huerco is definitely tough. Been obsessed with his Loidis project lately. Probably the biggest grower of the last 2 years for me |
Yotimi
12.12.19 | here's my attempt to recommend you something you haven't heard:
Indian Wells - Wimbledon 1980
Andras - Stereo Dunnies
Bella Boo - Hotel Europa (this reminds me of "Ball'r by DJ sprinkles) |
luci
12.12.19 | ball'r aka the best track ever. i've enjoyed bella boo's eps so I need to get on that lp. indian wells hasn't clicked with me yet so I'll revisit that. haven't heard of andras |
Lord(e)Po)))ts
12.12.19 | great list |
unclereich
12.12.19 | 40 =*] |

Yotimi
12.12.19 | finally got around to 6 and it's a beaut |
luci
12.12.19 | sure is. bella boo is lovely and that track is very sprinkles |
Gyromania
12.12.19 | Surprising list, figured your top 10 would have bren much different. Love the Blake, Hecker, Healer, Hopkins and Crystal Castle picks, even tho I'd have picked different ones. |
DoofDoof
12.12.19 | Everything I've heard on this list I liked a lot - and it isn't often I can say that about a sput list |
DoofDoof
12.12.19 | EDIT: maybe not the track you chose from the James Blake debut, though I can't remember it. So close anyway. |
luci
12.12.19 | my fave blake song is between "unluck" and "the wilhelm scream", I went for a pick that's less vocal-centered here. glad you've enjoyed what you've heard, i recommend checking the al-90 before your decade list |
luci
12.12.19 | @gyro: it's not surprising if you'd actually hear my recs! get on geotic, al-90 and vftl asap |
DoofDoof
12.12.19 | thanks luci, will give it a spin tomorrow - time is running out, think I'll sling up a top 100 albums of 2019 next week |
Relinquished
12.12.19 | great picks, mine would be a little less 'cloudy' I think |
luci
12.12.19 | you'd probably have more slammers. i like pillow beats |
Relinquished
12.12.19 | my pillow slams lol
no vynehall here daaaaang, dude made some of the best evocative house this decade I think |
luci
12.12.19 | either music for the uninvited or nothing is still will be on the album list. don't have a big standout track by him. same deal with floating points |
Relinquished
12.12.19 | those albums are better as a whole agreed
Rojus on the other hand, mostly full of bangers in lowkey fashion |
Let
12.12.19 | @Loci I assume you've heard Midnight on Rainbow Road by him? Best thing I've heard from Leon |
luci
12.12.19 | just checked, that was beautiful! thanks |
Relinquished
12.12.19 | his I, Cavallo is late but it's so damn good too |
peekatoad
12.12.19 | Luci, you ever listen to Blue Sky Black Death? Seems like they would right up your alley, and would have some of my top tracks for electronic music from the last decade |
luci
12.12.19 | i heard late night cinema when it came out (one of the first recs I got on this site). don’t find them very interesting |
Yotimi
12.12.19 | Lol yeah where's all the Grime and Trap shit |
Ryus
12.12.19 | i strongly dislike todd terje |
peekatoad
12.13.19 | Luci please check out anything off of euphoric tape iii, or off of noir or glaciers. And if you dont dig anything if you could throw out why; i would love to know why. Since you carry weight about electronic music on this site. I get that they aren't super interesting. However i think they get their clout from their construction of songs. But what they throw at you ie apparitions off of euphoric tape iii shows something that i cant explain without some furthwr thought |
Atari
12.13.19 | man I'm loving 2! it's so chill
I'll probably check some more of these :) been meaning to get more into electronic music but it's overwhelming lol |
luci
12.13.19 | yay! i think you'd dig 5 as well |
DoofDoof
12.13.19 | the Al-90 was real good, sort of house I get into - not sure it would make my decade top 100, mainly due to the fact I'm not sure I'll get to listen to it enough in the space of a week, but a definite 4 on first go |
luci
12.13.19 | understandable, took me a few weeks to bump it above a 4. at least you enjoyed it, best we've seen from the outsider house trend |
watsonjr
12.13.19 | Always enjoy your lists! Our tastes in electronic music seem to align quite a bit.
Agree with song choices on 68, 65, 61, 30, 20, 17, 14, 12!
That whole AL-90 album is so good it's hard to settle on one track.
I differ on some track selections (72, 66, 63, 59, 41, 36, 33, 25, 4) but great list and lots for me to explore. Thanks! |
Slex
12.13.19 | Fuck I'm ecstatic to see Inspector Norse that high! Song (and album) is a big favorite of mine this decade |
luci
12.13.19 | ty slex and watson! glad someone else agrees with the hecker and barker picks, other tracks are more popular by them |
Ryus
12.13.19 | props for 73, thats one of my favorite albums of the decade |
Atari
12.23.19 | I'm really digging that Four Tet. Anything similar to that on here? Can't seem to get into The Field but maybe it will grow.. |
luci
12.23.19 | my go-to rec for something like four tet is last decade, telefon tel aviv's fahrenheit fair enough. if you want to hear a four tet album check rounds
from this list, i'd try robag wruhme's "venq tolep" and his album thora vukk, rival console's "recovery", laurence guy's "belong" and his album saw you for the first time |
Atari
12.23.19 | sweet. thx for helping me narrow it down! |
luci
12.23.19 | the caribou and gold panda albums as well |
luci

Yotimi
01.29.20 | Modern driveway is a beaut |
luci
01.29.20 | that one took me a while to get into. wonder what's your fav from Ptaki (found it from your list), loved "Sloneczny Pyl" from first listen |
Yotimi
01.29.20 | I'd say probably Deszczem if I had to choose. Sloneczny is up there too |
Klekticist
04.14.23 | wow great list. found this from the sw. artist page. checking out about 6 of these. |
