Gretel is transformative though. A sequence of songwriting twists both unexpected and intuitive, with a strong sense of “how did I get here?” from the opening to the closing moments. Then there’s that key lyric which is situated in the past, present and future all at once through the vocal effects; how a mantra reverberates through a life. The quintessential Alex G song. Haven’t heard the full discog but it simply has to be his best. |
