| Powerful Closers
In alphabetical order (band-wise) my most powerful (moving, emotional, creepy, etc) album closers | 1 | | Air The Virgin Suicides
Suicide Underground - One of the saddest things ive ever heard. Just a man describing the suicides of innocent sisters with little music in the background. The last line "Calling them out of those rooms where they went to be alone for all time. Alone in suicide, which is deeper than death, and where we will never find the pieces to put them back together" sends chills down my spine. | 2 | | Arcade Fire Neon Bible
My Body Is A Cage - Starts off so simple and cold, and ends triumphantly, with organs blaring and the whole band chanting. Easily arcade fires best song. | 3 | | The Blood Brothers ...Burn, Piano Island, Burn
The Shame - After the main bulk of the song, the singer starts singing the same 4 lines over and over, with the music building tension. Just when you think its going to break loose, the song randomly cuts off. Some might call it a buzzkill, but i think it makes it very strong. | 4 | | Explosions In The Sky The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place
Your Hand In Mine - One of my favorite songs ever. Guitars twinkle and intertwine beautifully, and every note has power. Indescribable. | 5 | | The Fall Of Troy Doppelganger
The songs seems to fade away at a certain point, and just when you think the swirling mix of feedback and effects will end the album, you're hit with the best part of the album. | 6 | | Incubus Morning View
Aqueous Transmission - Very relaxing song, makes me feel like im in the wilderness. I love how it fades out into the sound of frogs. When i listen to this song on top of a mountain (something me and friends do) the song fades into frogs, and you cant tell when it ends because the frogs blend with the surrounding crickets so well. | 7 | | Liars Drums Not Dead
The Other Side Of Mt. Heart Attack - A simple song, to end a very disorienting and creepy album. The contrast makes it all the better. | 8 | | The Mars Volta Frances The Mute
Cassandra Gemini - Amazing song, not only because theres so much of it. When the vocals come rushing back in after the 20 minute bridge, you can almost feel the mars volta becoming one of your favorite bands. Afterward, its all sucked away as the acoustic "sarcophagi" comes in and brings the album full circle. Amazing | 9 | | Mastodon Blood Mountain
Pendulous Skin - It gives you you an almost expected intro in the vein of leviathans "joseph merrick", but then washes it all away in a multitude of reverb laden, distant guitars and vocals. The solo provides the perfect climax to the album, and the fact that the vocals are indecipherable just makes it more mysterious. | 10 | | Queens Of The Stone Age Songs For The Deaf
Another acoustic song on a metal album! Rather than lift you into dreamville, though, this one talks about being eaten alive. The song itself is very triumphant, but the lyrics leave you with a feeling of unrest. And the 12 string riff is amazing. | 11 | | Radiohead Kid A
Motion Picture Soundtrack - This song is so warm and at home, yet very melancholy, and lyrically, depressing. The song seems to be about dying "i will see you in the next life". 2 minutes after the songs over, what seems to be a glimpse of heaven comes into the song, and then silence again. | 12 | | Sigur Ros ( )
Untitled 8 - The first half is like the rest of the album, slow and bland (not in a bad way). About midway through the song, it gets frightening. Tension builds up as jonsi croons. The tension builds and builds, and jonsi is still crooning, unchanged. It all breaks loose, and soon youre left with a smoldering head of feedback. You hear a click, and the albums over. An insane song, and the greatest thing ive ever seen live. | 13 | | Tool AEnima
Third Eye - For the most part, a very trippy song about drugs. The music is very calm and subdued. Out of nowhere you get punched in the face with screams of "PRYING OPEN MY THIRD EYE" over and over. The type of song that makes you wanna bash your face into the walls (at least at that one part) | 14 | | Album | 15 | | Band Album | 16 | | Band Album | 17 | | Band Album | 18 | | Band Album | 19 | | Band Album | 20 | | Band Album | 21 | | Band Album | 22 | | Band Album | 23 | | Band Album | 24 | | Band Album | 25 | | Band Album | 26 | | Band Album | 27 | | Band Album | 28 | | Band Album | 29 | | Band Album | 30 | | Band Album | |

10.26.08 | Is there a reason you've got 16 empty spaces or were you just being a tool?
I've only heard two of these songs - 2 & 12. I agree about 12 but not about 2. | StreetlightRock
10.26.08 | I was so confused about The Shame when I first heard it, just thought WTF where is the music gone? Similar to Talk Talk's Ascension Day. | KritikalMotion
10.26.08 | Your awesome. | KritikalMotion
10.26.08 | you're*

| DeadToPain
10.26.08 | EMPTINESS* | tinathefatlard
10.26.08 | about sigur ros, i've never heard someone use the word 'bland' in a good way | craigy2
10.26.08 | I'm seeing 12 soon (November 20th, Alexabdra Palace, London) should be great. Really hope they play Untitled#8. I've purposefully never seen any videos of them live so I have no idea what to expect. | Tool121
10.26.08 | well 13 definetely is the best song ever taken from the best album ever released by the best band ever | Mendigo
10.26.08 | yes to most of these, especially 4 and 11 are outright incredible.
the only song here that I know and have never completely come to terms with is 8, just seems too random and patched for me (though I know I'm about the only person in the whole world feeling like that) | SwallowARazor
10.26.08 | Reminds me of Fear Before the March of Flames' The Always Open Mouth, and how powerful the closer of A Gift of Fiction/Absolute Future was, and how it brought the album in a full circle. Check it out. | Shadowskos
10.26.08 | I completely agree with number 11. | ThyCrossAwaits
10.26.08 | are the 16 empty spaces like the 16 empty minutes on Pendulous Skin? cuz i wouldn't consider that very "powerful". more like "f***ing stupid". | BigJamie
10.26.08 | White Walls, Blackwater Park and Hurt (NIN version) should be here | IdiotTech
10.26.08 | that comment was the last thing i needed to hear to push me to listen to the downward spiral. really good stuff so far, havent gotten to hurt yet. | paranoiddisposition
11.30.08 | Wow IdiotTech, great taste in music and excellent choices! | ECRbubs
01.04.09 | "My Body Is A Cage" is definitely not the Arcade Fire's best song. Also I would add "Twilight At Carbon Lake" by Deerhunter. | maidenpmcc
04.04.10 | Stick Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name in here. |
