Best Metalcore LPs of 2022 |
10 | | Becoming The Archetype Children of the Great Extinction
Comeback album of the year? Yes. |
9 | | Rolo Tomassi Where Myth Becomes Memory
I'm still not sure if this is better than their 2018 release but this album is still one of the better 'core releases of the year. Hard to believe they've been around for nearly 2 decades; they deserve to be bigger than what they are. Prescience is one of the best songs of the year for me. |
8 | | Ithaca They Fear Us
This album is at the top of some of the year-end lists in some big publications and it deserves it. Incredibly well-paced album, good production and tight songwriting. I didn't really like their debut album but I really enjoyed this one. |
7 | | Heriot Profound Morality
The UK is putting out some top-tier bands. Definitely one of the best debut LPs of the year. FFO of metallic sludgy hardcore with ethereal vocals. |
6 | | Norma Jean Deathrattle Sing For Me
Norma Jean has been on an absolute tear since 2016. I still enjoy Polar Similar more but this is a great metalcore album with incredible production. |
5 | | Tallah The Generation of Danger
Outstanding nu-metalcore release with one of the best vocal performances of the year. It's a bit long for me and could have been an all-timer with some judicious cutting. |
4 | | The Callous Daoboys Celebrity Therapist
Lived up to the hype. I don't need to explain this one. |
3 | | Despite Exile Wound
The absolute best Deathcore release of 2022. Forget Lorna Shore or Fit for An Autopsy - this is the deathcore release to listen to IMO. Biggest surprise of the year for me. |
2 | | Infall Far
Excellent release from a relatively unknown band in Italy. Mixed by Kurt Ballou so you know it is going to sound amazing. Triumphant March is a banger of a track. This is a must check out release if you remotely enjoy mathcore. |
1 | | thoughtcrimes Altered Pasts
Killer new alt-metal/mathcore project from Billy Rymer (formally of TDEP). One of my most listened to albums this year. |
