| Grower Albums
Albums that grew on me after many listens...they were worth it. | 1 | | As I Lay Dying Shadows Are Security
Wow, this was a shocker for me. This was the first album i had ever bought with harsh vocals, sometime in early '06. Its still my favorite AILD album, and the vocals grew on my with repeated listens. | 2 | | The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour
One of my favorite Beatles albums, when i first put it in my cd player, i hated the psychedelic elements and vocals. It actually gave me a headache to listen to it, especially Blue Jay Way. Well, a few listens later, i love the whole thing instead of just Hello Goodbye and Penny Lane. | 3 | | The Decemberists The Crane Wife
This was the first acoustic driven album i ever bought, with the strong folky-indie elements. Its my favorite Decemberists album to date, and besides O' Valencia, every song took many listens for me to like. (I still don't like Shankhill Butchers though). | 4 | | Dream Theater Images and Words
Being the third DT album i bought...it bored me to tears. I got through Pull Me Under and turned it off. Now, its my second favorite DT album. | 5 | | The Mars Volta Amputechture
This was the first progressive rock album I bought (barring dark side of the moon), and when i began to listen to Vicarious Atonement, the first thing i thought about were clowns and the circus. Cedric sounded like a clown to me. Well, soon i grew to love Viscera Eyes and Vermicide, then the first 4 tracks, and now all of them except Asilos Magdalena...eww for #5. This album got me into one of my favorite bands of all time. | 6 | | Metallica Kill Em All
Wow, when first heard Hit the Lights, i was so pissed off. The production quality was so damn bad, it gave me an earache. However, i decided to force myself to listen to it later and now i see its beauty, especially (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth. | 7 | | The Music Welcome to the North
I bought this album on accident thinking it was a misprint on the top for a Muse album. Haha, noob. Anyway, i thought the album was really peculiar and its entire tone put me off. Now its one of my favorite alternative/indie albums. | 8 | | Radiohead Ok Computer
Stoners. The lot of them. Or at least thats what i thought when i first heard the album. Originally, Let Down was the only part i liked...now the entirety of the album is amazing, and statistically, probably my favorite album ever. At first i thought the music was so bland with a bunch of knicks and whistles, now i know its all part of a beautiful whole. | 9 | | Transatlantic Bridge Across Forever
Prententious and Boring. Well, thats what i thought when i first listened to it. Now i see its intricacies and beauty as a whole. Great Prog Rock. | 10 | | The Velvet Underground The Velvet Underground and Nico
Im sure im not the only one that thought this was the most overhyped album of all time when they first heard it. Besides Sunday Morning, it was boring and unimaginative, now theres just some strange flare that works for me. It just plain works, and i like it a lot. I get it. | |

11.08.07 | I had the same experience with OK Computer.
At first, I thought it was nothing special, and nowhere near the Bends in terms of overall quality, but every once in a while I would listen again, and it grew and grew until this present day, when I now consider it the greatest piece of music ever recorded. |
