04.25.14 | Free music, guys. And my eternal gratitude, though I'd much rather have the free music. |

04.25.14 | On the last track right now. I was expecting some post-metal and instead I got dark sort of keyboard driven prog rock, in a good way. I am pleasantly surprised. The production is a little muddy, the keyboard sounds a little cheesy and I think having some guitars would have made the sound thicker but but the writing is great overall. This very much feels like a rock opera which I believe it is, though I didn't read the lyrics :[
If I could give it decimals, I'd say a 3.8 |

04.25.14 | The dark piano riffs (what do you call them when it's a piano) on Toxi and the instrumental break around 3 minutes on the closer were killer. More! |

04.25.14 | Thanks Xing, really appreciate it. I would love to have guitars in it but that's an instrument I don't play well enough yet. I'm hoping to find someone who would be up for collaborating as such (talked with InbredJed but scheduling hasn't worked out yet). Any chance you could leave that as a soundoff? Every bit helps. |

04.25.14 | Thanks Excent. Yeah I easily could have thrown Defenders on this list too. Going to go harsh some on the next album for sure. Care to drop a rating of some sort on the page? |

04.25.14 | Stallion, you ever get around to it perchance? |

04.25.14 | @Xing Even with pianos, the term is still riff.
@pedro You've got a really solid voice on you, man! You seem to be a little restrained in certain moments, like you want to go higher. The keyboards are very well played, but the sound of them are just a bit cheesetastic. The echo effects on the vocals don't help that cheese factor much, but it's a bit charming, actually. Are the drums programmed? They sound like an actual kit, but just wondering. |
pedro70512
04.25.14 | Thanks Justin. The drums are as real as real gets. I made a point to use as little studio trickery as possible, so everything you hear was recorded analog and actually happened. Yeah, when you listen to enough power metal the cheese tends to stick a little xD |

04.25.14 | Woah, a regular dissertation from Captain. Really appreciate the detailed feedback. I'll be sure to make the technical adjustments with future recordings. As for singing, my head range is D2 to C4, so the high voice on SG:II is tops for me. I've really improved my Halford falsetto since this though so that will be a welcome dynamic on the next outing, much of which I've written and demo'd. |

04.25.14 | Great stuff on the keys! My only issue was that the vocal melodies were a bit too on the nose by being in lockstep with the keyboards both rhythmically and melodically. It works superbly in spots like the middle third of The Irons, but I felt like it wore thin over the course of the whole album and made it a bit less interesting for me.
3.5/5 |

04.25.14 | @Sitar - Definitely agree. Vocal harmonies are definitely something I'll spend more time on. I had 52 hours to record, mix, and master this so I didn't get to experiment as much as I'd have liked to. |
