DRAGON SLAYER...?

OH YEAH, YOU ARE NOW IN LOVE WITH BOTH MY DRAGON SLAYING NUTS I KILLED A DEMON WITH THESE HANDS DID I SAY I'M ALSO IN A BAND? IN CASE YOU MIGHT NEED MORE PROOF I BROUGHT THE DRAGON STRAIGHT TO YOU OOH, IT'S THE ONE THAT I SLEW HE'LL ATTEST THAT MY STORY IS TOTALLY TRUE *DRAGON DANCE* Sorry, just had to finish the NSP trifecta. List is shuffles, except for Number one, because ROCK FUCK After this I'll move to less obnoxious lists! Maybe.
1Ninja Sex Party
Attitude City

I RODE UP TO THE MOUNTAIN TOP
IT WAS NINETY MILLION HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND HUNDRED FEET IN THE AIR
'TIL I FOUND THE DRAGON'S CAVE
AND I FOUGHT THROUGH HIS ARMY OF AWESOME KARATE BEARS
THE DRAGON'S BREATH WAS A BLAST FROM HELL
AND WE FOUGHT SO HARD I MISSED A LONG STANDING APPOINTMENT FOR BRUNCH
THEN I SWUNG MY HORSE LIKE A CLUB
IT CAUSED A SONIC BOOM THAT RUPTURED SPACE AND THEN EXPLODED THE SUN!!
2Funeral for a Friend
Tales Don't Tell Themselves

Did you forget to call to find your way back home?
Out for another drink, you find yourself alone
And with the truth I feel inside, could you believe me?
That I could wait here all my life for you to find me

4The Used
Shallow Believer

In this exchange, I often touch myself
So go ahead and let those dirty words pass right through me
Just passing through, not stopping by
Not saying Hi
Girl, you can't kill a liar!

This is a pretty rad song, haven't listened to it in forever. The horns are an interesting touch, but they work! Then again, I'm usually a sucker for anything with brass in it.
5Save Ferris
Modified

Did you think that this would make everything right?
Did you know the price you'd pay was your own life?
And now you're screaming out at me to make things right ronight
How will you end your pain?

I used to be SO INTO this band when I was younger. I still think they're pretty decent, but this song is kind of meh. They do feel-good vibes much better. They're not really well-suited for aggression/anger.
6Tremonti
All I Was

You waste your time
You hide too much, don't ever let me find out what you're thinking
What's in your head?
You ask too much, don't ever le me beg
Who are you?

Tremonti is awesome. I still feel his work in all of his projects is too by the numbers though. Standard hard rock/pseudo-metal. I feel like he could do great if more proggy elements were added. Still though, he's a great guitar player, and a pretty good singer. Kennedy is still a better singer though.
7Gorillaz
The Fall

They're just little pink plastic bags
Floating on a highway alone
They don't know where they'll go
They're just gonna float out

Definitely the weakest of Gorillaz' efforts, but there's still some good tunez on here.
8Five Iron Frenzy
Five Iron Frenzy 2: Electric Boogaloo

On broken backs, we build empires
Twisting spines for steeple spires
How many people can you kill?
Look at your twenty dollar bills
Do you see the third world poverty
Inside the lines of your country?
And now to treaties we are loyal
But tear them up when we smell oil

15 years later and still extremely topical. Maybe even more so.
9Rx Bandits
Progress

Human rights went on vacation
Money took over a long time ago
Cry for this racial war
In all Rwanda's glory
There ain't no glory in a war

15 years later and still extremely topical [2]
10Bomb the Music Industry!
Adults!!!: Smart!!! Shithammered!!! And Excited By Nothing!!!!!!!

'Cause I'll be away tomorrow
I'm gonna find a better place
I'm gonna do this right and find a place
And I will tell my slumlord to get out of my face
I get the world, you get nothing, yeah yeah yeah yeah!
I'm not giving you shit, I'm not paying the rent!

Whoa, Zak would hate this list so hard. Actually, I bet like 50% of the userbase will.

WHATEVER, IT'S MY LIST.
11The Gaslight Anthem
Handwritten

And how much time do you think we have?
If I wanted to, I could start over again
Let the good night decide who she wants me to find
And I'll never let you drop another tear in my eye

I think Handwritten is just as good as The '59 Sound and American slang. Fight me.
12Tupper Ware Remix Party
Guardians of the Zone

I know you are a bad girl
You make the night feel good
You bring joy to my sad world
Just let love you like I should

If there is one thing I would say you should listen to on this list, IT IS THIS. TWRP are an amazing electrofunk/synthpop band. The highlight is definitely their bassist, Commander Meouch, but the band as a whole is extremely talented. If you like groovy, funky music in the vein of Daft Punk, CHECK THEM OUT. Even if only for Commander Meouch.
13Hanson
This Time Around

If I asked you how, you'd give that look to kill
Oh, it gives you a chill,
But oh, it gives me a thrill to say
Do you love me?

Did you guys know that after Hanson went through puberty they actually turned into a pretty decent pop band with a lot of blues and rock influences? You should explore that. ALos, I never found out who plays bass for them, probably a session musician, but they usually have some decent bass liens.
14Portugal. The Man
The Satanic Satanist

And if another lover takes that love away from you
Be careful with your mind, what you're bound to do
Lovers in love. Lovers in love.
Lovers in love just like these lovers are loving in love.
Lovers in love just like these lovers are loving in love.

This is another band that I really enjoy but tend to forget about for large swaths of time. There's a decent amount of those.

16Fort Minor
The Rising Tied

You can say what you have to say
'Cause my mind's made up anyway
I'm taking the high road going above you
This is the last time I'm gonna trust you
You can say what you want to say
My mind's made up anyway
All that bullshit that you talk might work a lot
But it's not gonna work today

Remember that time Mike Shinoda had a side project? Me neither. This really isn't that bad, but it's not great either. What I REALLY want is a Mr. Hahn side project.
17Travis Barker
Give The Drummer Some

I keep a cool head, I keep a cool head now, whoa
I keep a cool head, I keep a cool head

Meanwhile, this is pretty terrible.
18Voices from the Fuselage
Odyssey: The Destroyer of Worlds

Tear down the signs
That tell you how to live your life
Aim to witness your outer mind
Read between the lines
I'm not here to avert your eyes
I'm here to teach you what's right

I'm glad that when Ashe O'Hara left Tesseract, he rejoined this project. If you haven't checked it out, you should. A good mix of progressive rock/metal without all the wank, with a sense of grandeur and space.
19Reel Big Fish
Everything Sucks

Was gonna call my friends and get 'em all together
I was gonna go and start a band
But everything I want to do has already been done
Why would I wanna go and do it again?
Everybody
Everybody
Everybody plays guitar

MY TEENAGE YEARS.
20Arcade Fire
Neon Bible

I don't wanna work in a building downtown
I don't wanna work in a building downtown
Parking their cars in the underground
Their voices when they scream, well they make no sound
I wanna see the cities rust
And the troublemakers riding on the back of the bus

I've still never decided if I like this or Funeral more.
