Masochist: Masochist Ranks Video Game Music

Masochist 10.01.11	Keep in mind, I've only ever played one single Final Fantasy game (XII, which I'm certain I love ONLY because it's the only one I've played), and I've only ever played one part of one single LoZ Game (Ocarina of Time, up until you can become an adult)--the Song of Storms remains my favorite song from that game. I left spaces to be filled in by you (or me, if I remember something). Crucify me, bitches!
Crymsonblaze 10.01.11	14, 15, 19, and 22 rule! You definitely need to play some more Final Fantasy games though, even if it's just for the music
NOTINTHEFACE 10.01.11	The music for FF12 sucks, so it's understandable why you didn't include any FF music. I'd throw on the original Command and Conquer soundtrack, the original Unreal Tournament, and Spyro the Dragon.

Yuli 10.01.11	Nice to see some SSX 3 love. I used to play that game live all the time; on one of the races I almost made it in the top 100 times in the world. Which was pretty damn impressive for a 5th grader, mind you.

Masochist 10.01.11	I know exactly what you mean! On a good day, I can put that on and just vibe out, pick out every separate instrument, nod my head along. There's a huge amount of instruments used on that soundtrack; lots of sounds I never expected in a video game soundtrack.

AngelofDeath 10.01.11	Donkey Kong Country 2 is better than the first one (music-wise and the game in general), Sticker Brush Symphony probably being the best song from the series. Best song from the LoZ games is Koume and Kotake's Theme. All-in-all, a lot of deserving stuff here like Metroid Prime, Chrono Trigger, and MGS. Could still use some Silent Hill, Mega Man, Guilty Gear, Castlevania, and lots and lots of Final Fantasy lol.

NOTINTHEFACE 10.01.11	FFX has a pretty good script, it's just that the voice acting is horrible. If you can look past that, it's an incredibly emotional and cathartic story in the style that only Squaresoft could execute. Also, it's the best OST for any audiovisual media ever. The way Uematsu weaves themes in and out of the music is absolutely masterful.

Masochist 10.01.11	LOL. Don't worry, I got it knowing it was the first FF with voice acting. I love XII, but I hear all about how Final Fantasy is known for character development and story and all that, and XII doesn't have it like the others do, so I picked up X. Also, wanted to play Blitzball.
NOTINTHEFACE 10.01.11	Yeah XII was pretty shallow. Once you make it through X, pick up VII. It's probably one of the greatest stories ever penned.

Masochist 10.01.11	The THPS soundtracks (and similar extreme sports game ST's) are what got me into music in high school. No lie, they are the starting point of my musical journey.

Liberi Fatali 10.01.11	I'm similar in that Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 got me into Millencolin, RATM etc, and before that didn't have much/any interest in rock, pop-punk etc. Definitely was a cool soundtrack.
Fugue 10.01.11	I don't think I've ever had more fun on a game than SSX3. The soundtrack was too good.
Tinco 10.01.11	I'm too old to know most of these games I guess. Deus Ex (part 1 and 3) and Planescape: Torment have outstanding soundtracks though.
Keyblade 10.01.11	I second Kingdom Hearts, obviously :P. Also, Banjo Kazooie's soundtrack is so underrated as is the game itself.

PayneTiger777 10.01.11	The Silent Hill soundtracks are pretty amazing. Also, going back to some old school games, the first Tenchu for the PS1 had some great music, especially at the ending credits.

Masochist 10.01.11	If the song wasn't created specifically for the game, it wasn't included in the song portion of the list (else songs like "New Noise" and Nas's "The World Is Yours" would dominate). Still may check out Faunts, though. And definitely plan on getting Mass Effect 2 for 360 whenever I get one.

NOTINTHEFACE 10.01.11	Mass Effect series is a must-play if you are a human being. And YES you MUST start with 1. The gameplay is annoying but the dialogue, story, and choices which lead into the second game are unforgettable. Epic series.

Yuli 10.02.11	The last SSX games have been really boring tbh, I hope they find something fun to add And "Also, Banjo Kazooie's soundtrack is so underrated as is the game itself." [2]. Holy shit, the soundtrack is phenomenal. Grant Kirkhope knows how to make great music in games he worked with (also evident in Donkey Kong 64 and Banjo-Tooie).
