foreverendeared
01.09.11 | Also, I know I've said this before in other lists, but mewithoutYou actually isn't a Christian band. Aaron Weiss and his brother are Sufi Muslim. Not sure if I mentioned this in one of your lists or not, though. |
couldwinarabbit
01.09.11 | ^lol really they were the only christan band I knew of that was kinda good. |
TheEnigma
01.09.11 | Anberlin isn't as blatantly Christian as bands such as Relient K, Skillet or Kutless, but they definitely have a lot of Christian themes running through their music. Their songs can usually be taken in more than one way, depending on your worldview, which is kind of cool. Also, their faith is more obvious in some albums and less obvious in others.
Kimm - this was a good bump, really, but I would advise you to stay out of this thread. |

01.10.11 | couldwinarabbit - You definitely just commented on a list in which I try to answer that question, but truly, I've stopped trying to convince people here that Christian bands are good, because they either refuse to believe it, just aren't interested, and/or only want another point of derision against Christianity in general.
If you haven't found a band that is Christian that you like by now after being on this site for so long, chances are you weren't interested in finding one in the first place.
foreverendeared - Didn't know that. Did a bit of research, and have come to this conclusion: they are a religious band, whose lyrics promote a healthy relationship with God...but that can be any God of any religion (same being, different name). They've taken influence from everywhere, lots of religions and teachings, and have written lyrics and shared stories from all of them. But they are definitely a religious band, and while they may not be strictly Christian, I listen to them as a Christian myself, and take from their songs a Christian interpretation and meaning of what a good relationship with God is, and so I think they can still probably fit in here.
Thank you for the info, though, and for making me look that up and do a bit of research myself; I really gotta make sure to get my facts right about some of these bands.
TheEnigma - Actually, quite a few of the bands on here are in the same vein--not overtly Christian, but with Christian themes and values running throughout their lyrics. Underoath is like that; there's usually only one or two songs on every album that would indicate they were Christian, and the rest could be written by any band of any faith. |

01.10.11 | Nice list. |

01.10.11 | found one I like
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y4f62-TLIM |
Masochist
01.10.11 | couldwinarabbit - But if you're really interested...try Starflyer 59. They're one of the oldest bands on Tooth & Nail; they started out in the early '90's as a Shoegaze band, mixed in some Dream Pop, and are now more of a dreamy Indie-Pop band. Also, there's absolutely no doubt that they are a Christian band.
Try 'Talking Voice vs. Singing Voice' or 'Leave Hear A Stranger' to start out with. Or if you're more interested in the earlier, shoegazy (Ride-clone) stuff, try 'Silver'. |

TheEnigma
01.10.11 | I know, Masochist. I was simply providing IAmHollywood with an explanation as to why it may be obvious to you that Anberlin is a Christian band while to him, their albums are a compilation of love songs.
It's all about perspective. |
Masochist
01.10.11 | LOL...I was tacking-on to your comment, not responding directly to it :-P. It was meant more for Hollywood, to tell the truth.
But I know what you mean about perspective; I interpret some bands as Christian just because they have some of the same lyrical themes even if they aren't. |
TheEnigma
01.10.11 | Oh, well it's good we cleared that up then...
I know precisely what you mean, I quite often find myself changing what I know to be the true meaning of a song to make it fit my worldview/beliefs. I love that about music, however I also have a soft spot for some songs that are so blatantly obvious about what they mean that you can't take it any other way. Depends on the message. |
