| Once Loved, Now Forgotten
Albums that were once true obsessions at one point or another in my life, but that I hardly ever spin nowadays. Some of them I actually don't like anymore, but most are just albums that I don't think about anymore. | 1 | | As I Lay Dying Frail Words Collapse
Stopped listening to them after Tim did his thing. Never really picked them back up after that, but I've gotten back to the point where I can appreciate the music. | 2 | | The Black Keys Rubber Factory
The best Black Keys album even after all these years. I have it on vinyl, so I'll spin it a little bit, but I tend to stop after "10 AM Automatic." | 3 | | Blindside Silence
This album was one of my bridges to getting used to screaming in music, and was a full-blown obsession at one point. I generally don't listen to this type of music anymore, but if I do, this would still probably be among my favorites. | 4 | | Boysetsfire Tomorrow Come Today
One of the first three albums I ever bought with my own money. They deserved so much more respect when they were around. | 5 | | Collide Chasing the Ghost
I actually really like this album...I just forget it exists sometimes. | 6 | | Days Away Mapping An Invisible World
Another obsession for me. Got the album for free, honestly still love it. | 7 | | Demon Hunter The Triptych
Demon Hunter was, at one point, my absolute favorite band. As I was exploring metal through Christian Hard Rock, they were the cornerstone for which I based everything else I heard on. Can't remember the last time I spun a Demon Hunter song, but man...they were everything back then. | 8 | | Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory
This is probably their best album, I just overplayed it when I first discovered the band. 'Octavarium' is the only album by DT that I actually play anymore. | 9 | | dredg El Cielo
'El Cielo' and 'Catch Without Arms' are bomb album, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. | 10 | | Emery The Question
I think bands like this are just indicative of me not really having much of a taste for post-hardcore and emo in general. | 11 | | Explosions in the Sky The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place
Another album I was obsessed with, that I thought was the most gorgeous thing I'd ever heard. Perhaps that's still true, but I hardly listen anymore. | 12 | | Flobots Fight with Tools
I forget that 'Handlebars' is on this album, because the song I think of first is the title track. | 13 | | fun. Aim and Ignite
Man, I remember this being a legit "Sputnik Album" before 'Some Nights' came out. Just a fun listen back then. | 14 | | Gym Class Heroes The Papercut Chronicles
This album has some rather clever songs. I just know all the punchlines. | 15 | | Jonsi Go
Hahahaha...remember this album? | 16 | | Justin Timberlake The 20/20 Experience
I actually wrote a review of this album. I don't think I've spun it since, lol | 17 | | Lostprophets The Fake Sound Of Progress
Much like As I Lay Dying, I've just barely started coming around to listening to this album again. This album was so fun and catchy back then, like a slightly crunchier Incubus. | 18 | | Matchbook Romance Voices
Matchbook Romance was the last band I ever thought would put out an album like this, and as a case study its fascinating...but as an album, it's kind of tedious to listen to. | 19 | | Mew Frengers
I still absolutely love this album. I just don't listen to it all that much. | 20 | | Muse Origin of Symmetry
I discovered Muse right after 'Black Holes and Revelations' came out, but this was my clear favorite. Man, how incredible is this album, especially now compared to the rest of their discography? And does anyone really still listen to Muse? | 21 | | Nightwish Once
Once I listened to this band...and that was it. | 22 | | Red (USA) End of Silence
Back then, I considered them one of the few rock bands on the radio that sounded like they were doing something different. Really, they were all pretty much the same. | 23 | | Rise Against Siren Song of the Counter Culture
I used to be able to sing every lyric from every song. Nowadays, I have to be reminded that they still tour and put out music. | 24 | | Slipknot Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses
Slipknot's sweet spot. It was only years later I could truly appreciate it, but by then I just didn't care all that much. | 25 | | System of a Down Mezmerize
On my very first list on this site, I called 'Mezmerize' my favorite album of all time. That was almost 12 years ago (FUUUUU). I can't remember the last time I actually listened to it. | |

01.27.19 | Description: Albums that were once true obsessions at one point or another in my life, but that I hardly ever spin nowadays. Some of them I actually don't like anymore, but most are just albums that I don't think about anymore.
Honestly, my enjoyment for almost all of these albums comes from pure nostalgia, and remembering the feelings I felt when I listened to them back in their respective hey days | sonictheplumber
01.27.19 | i never really stop liking music i once liked but i reach a point where i have to be drunk to play certain bands otherwise i forget they exist | StonedManatee
01.27.19 | 3 and 7 I used to listen to a lot growing up when my Dad tried to become a pastor. I can't get into 8 sadly. I fell asleep to 11 last night. 24 and 25 are excellent albums. | BerryGarlicia
01.27.19 | Octavarium is the best DT | ImmortalPaper
01.27.19 | Should we all re-review 16 somewhere towards the end of next year? | botb
01.27.19 | Used to jam lots of these and also don’t revisit them much | Uzumaki
01.27.19 | I still jam Muse from time to time, but really only their older stuff like what you got, Absolution and BHAR. | BlownSpeakers
01.27.19 | Mezmerize is still da bomb | oWhoadYo
01.27.19 | who could ever forget 9??!! | Viriathus
01.27.19 | I Still love BoySetFire and Emery. Actually just jammed Blindside again after not having listened to them for a long while and now im going back into the habit of jamming A Thought Crushd My Mind more. That Lostprophets album still bangs pretty well and I still think that Demon Hunters first two hold up decently well. Red remind me of the good ol days of discovering new music through YouTube AMVs back in my Elementary school days, listened to them a lot with Skillet, Breaking Benjamin, Story of the Year and a good majority of the rest of the AMVcore crowd.
never heard of Collide before but im gonna have to check em since they seem like a band id dig. | Masochist
01.28.19 | Sonic - That's pretty much me, in a nutshell. I actually still like a lot of these albums, I just never play them. Some of them I did actually fall out of love with, though.
Stoned - Christian Metal was such an important genre for me growing up. Some of the bands I discovered back then I still bump, like Norma Jean and Underoath. Also, I definitely have used EITS to fall asleep.
Berry - YES. Glad I'm not the only one who shares that opinion.
Immortal - I'd be down! Be a nice retrospective
botb - I know, right? Strange how they just kind of fall out of your consciousness even if you'd still enjoy them today.
Uzumaki - I should try and put on at least OoS or 'Absolution' once in a while, because they're both still bangers
Blown - Agreed. After I wrote this list, I bumped it; was mesmo...was into it.
oWhoadYo - Not I. Actually, dredg's first four albums are all still bangers.
Slice - I'mma tell you something I probably shouldn't admit, but will: I had this inexplicable urge to listen to Breaking Benjamin last week, and I absolutely "got it" for perhaps the first time. I don't know why it clicked, but they were fun and catchy as shit. BSF and Emery were a sound from a specific time and mindset in my life, but I'd still bump them too, if I wouldn't get distracted by newer music. Emery has evolved quite nicely from their "Walls" days. Blindside is the band that got me into heavier music, and I can probably never thank them enough. Honestly, if I put on a Blindside record, it's probably going to be 'About A Burning Fire'.
Ahh yeah, AMVs...I honestly miss those.
Collide is a great band! Kind of gothic trip-hop, if you can imagine that. Very mid-tempo, dark sounding, and female fronted. Definitely check them out. | Lord(e)Po)))ts
01.28.19 | Yeah these are all best forgotten. | Source
01.28.19 | I still jam 3 sometimes | Lord(e)Po)))ts
01.28.19 | I'd listen to that over most of these tbh | hal1ax
01.28.19 | 19 is decent | Relinquished
01.28.19 | I'd probably take 16 over all of these at this point | Masochist
01.28.19 | 19 is absolutely the best thing on here, make no mistake. Maybe not by much, but definitely #1. 16 is fun, as is 3. | Muhlysa
01.28.19 | Loved that rise against album. I'd jam it nonstop while I was throwing papers in the early morn |
