Aids' 2011 So Far

Don't give me that shit about how "2011 so far" lists are dumb, at least this is about music. And this is really just an excuse for me to start pre-whoring Manchester Orchestra's new album anyway.
35Raekwon
Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang

I wasn't really that thrilled by this, good album though.
34Beau Navire
Life Moves

I need more emo from this year
33Panic! At The Disco
Vices & Virtues

One of my favourite guilty pleasure bands delivers once again
32tUnE-yArDs
w h o k i l l

Terrible band name, terrible album name, great album......alright...
31Tim Hecker
Ravedeath, 1972

Gotta love that album cover
30Pariso/Kerouac
Split

Really good, but way too short. I know it's hardcore and short songs are
"in" but this is just ridiculous. The split is like ten songs in five minutes (or
something like that). And I know, I know, there are apparently much
shorter hardcore releases. I'm not interested

You Stand Uncertain

niceeeeeeeeee
28Explosions In The Sky
Take Care, Take Care, Take Care

I thought this would suck, it doesn't (ERIC), it's great.
27Late Night Alumni
Haunted

This album rules but it's front-loaded like crazy. I have a hard time listening
to it all the way though without getting bored by the end.
26Rival Schools
Pedals

This is so good, I need to check out these guys' earlier work.
25Fleet Foxes
Helplessness Blues

I think I'm the only one here who still likes s/t better
24Rise Against
Endgame

Significantly better than Appeal To Reason in my opinion.
23Broken Bells
Meyrin Fields

"Buy this. Buy the vinyl. Buy Ten." - Sobhi (on Broken Bell's debut self- titled
LP)
22Scale The Summit
The Collective

I really did not expect to like this at all. It's incredible.
21Protest The Hero
Scurrilous

I haven't been listening to this one nearly as much as I did with their
previous albums. I still like the band, I just think they're growing off me a
bit.
20Kerouac/The Long Haul
Split

The best Kerouac's split this year (so far, they're on pace for like ten)
19The Rural Alberta Advantage
Departing

"Living in Brooks, Alberta I don't find that there is any rural Alberta
advantage but this album is Christlike." - Brandon Magnuson
(youaremysilence), RIP buddy (he was referring to their first album but that
quote is gold, I just had to use it).
18Wax
Scrublife

Great rap from newly signed youtube sensation Wax. 2010 Til Infinity is one
of my favourite rap tracks ever, you guys gotta check this out.
172562
Fever

so, I think I like dubstep now (sort of?)
16TV on the Radio
Nine Types of Light

I can't believe their bass player died so suddenly, so sad. This album rules
by the way, it's a grower for sure.
15Swarms
Old Raves End

My new sleepytime album
14Spokes
Everyone I Ever Met

Because there's no new Arcade Fire this year, here's Spokes instead
13The Weeknd
House of Balloons

Got the walls kickin' like they six months pregnant
12James Blake
James Blake

"post-dubstep" - British music media "shut the fuck up" - me
11CunninLynguists
Oneirology

My favourite rap album of the few I've heard so far this year (Rae's new
album was a little disappointing)
10Glassjaw
Coloring Book

I wanted this to be bad so so so badly (the band pisses me off and I want
to hate their music) but its so so so so good.
9Foo Fighters
Wasting Light

I'm so pumped to see these guys in......30 DAYS?!?!?!?!?!? Oh my god
Sasquatch 2011 will be legendary.
8Laura Stevenson and The Cans
Sit Resist

holy shit she is so good at music
7Natural Snow Buildings
Waves of the Random Sea

Awesome album title, awesome album.
6Radiohead
The King of Limbs

Second best Radiohead album behind Kid A
5Yuck
Yuck

Yeah, I still can't get enough of this.
4The Mountain Goats
All Eternals Deck

The first track on this 'God Damn These Vampires' is one of the best songs
of the year so far. Check it out if you haven't already.
3Old Man Markely
Guts N' Teeth

OK seriously you guys, more people need to hear this.
2Defeater
Empty Days and Sleepless Nights

Not a 5 for me anymore, but still my favourite Defeater album.
1 Manchester Orchestra
Simple Math

Well Manchester Orchestra, let's see if you can claim AOTY with two straight
albums. It's looking good so far.
