Year Of The Ep

This has been quite the year as far as EP releases goes. So much so that I've decided to make a rrlist of all the great EPs from 2010 and exclude them from my year end list of LPs. Let me know rif rthere's anything serious that I missed.
9Sufjan Stevens
All Delighted People EP

This is nowhere near as good as The Age of Adz but I'll be damned if it
hasn't earned it's playtime in my iTunes (however small in compared to Age
of Adz said playtime may be). Sufjan is just a muthaflippin' mastermind and
can create pop songs like no other. Also, I hesitate to call his music 'pop'
but that's the best I could come up with.
8 Slow Dreams
Einn Ar Seinna

This is a solo work self-released by sputnik user Jash. It's actually really
good if you're into post-rock or other similar genres. Hit him up for a free
mediafire link if you're interested.
7James Blake
Klavierwerke

What a voice this man has. He'll be making huge waves in the next few
years, you can bank on that.
6The War On Drugs
Future Weather

This went under the radar a little bit here which is too bad because I think
sputnik may enjoy this. To me it sounds like washed-out Bob Dylan. Like,
Dylan on a little bit of acid. only a lil' bit though
5 Alexisonfire
Dog's Blood

This high spot is probably somewhat inflated because I have it on sexy
green vinyl.
4Japandroids
No Singles

More of what you loved from Post-Nothing.
3 Touch Amore/La Dispute
Searching for a Pulse/The Worth of the World

La Dispute's side stands out but Touch Amore holds their own. This EP is
four great tracks from two of post-hardcore's finer bands. The direction by
both bands is promising; I will be looking forward to their respective follow-
ups (full LPs, presumably)
2Eluvium
Static Nocturne

This is much better than his Lp from this year, Similies. Static Nocturne is
somewhat of a concept piece. It blends static, or white noise, with
Eluvium's singature piano melodies. String sections fade in and out as do
other electronica-esque noises. Everything is done subtly here, nothing is
rash or immediate. For this, Static nNcturne achieves what I believe it sets
out to do: it relaxes the listener with it's brilliant ambiance.
1Trophy Scars
Darkness, Oh Hell

I love the Tom Waits like vocals. That seems to be the main turnoff, so it
makes sense I'd love this. Vocals aside, everything about this EP is
objectively awesome. It's compact and accessible, but with deeply complex
structure. Combine that with, dare I say it?, pop appeal, and you've got
yourselves Trophy Scars' badass new EP. Oh, and they thank
sputnikmusic.com in the liner notes. I mean, how elite is that?
