Overlooked Metal Albums

It's a shame some of these albums don't get nearly enough attention.
1 Dark Tranquillity
The Mind's I

This album is overshadowed by DT's previous release, "The Gallery". This album contains some classic tracks such as "Hedon" and the mind-blowing "Insanity's Crescendo".
2Burzum
Det Som Engang Var

Also overshadowed by Burzum's classic album "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss", this album has a surprising number of awesome riffs such as the opening of "Lost Wisdom" of the melodies toward the end of "Key To The Gate".
3Insomnium
In The Halls Of Awaiting

This is an album most Insomnium fan's don't own, but it is one of their best. This album also contains what I think is Insomnium's finest hour, the 11 minute epic of "In The Halls Of Awaiting".
4Satyricon
The Shadowthrone

The middle album between the classic "Dark Medieval Times" and "Nemesis Divina", this album is great, classic Satyricon work, with awesome tracks like "Hvite Krists Dod" and "Woods To Eternity".
5Vinterland
Welcome My Last Chapter

It surprises me that not many people have heard of this band. It's like a darker, more somber form of Dissection, and also a lot heavier. "Our Dawn Of Glory" is absolutely furious and "Wings Of Sorrow" is a great closing track.
6Skyfire
Mind Revolution

This is Melodic Death Metal with a heavy symphonic element, with lots of keyboard. They still manage to create a really heavy album, and songs like "Colliding In Mind" showcase that perfectly.
7Beyond The Embrace
Against The Elements

This relatively unknown band fuses Thrash and Melodic Death Metal perfectly, with great vocals backing constantly changing riffing.Plus, the instrumentals they put forth are probably the best I've ever heard.
8 Paysage d'Hiver
Paysage d'Hiver

A 1 man French Black Metal band, he creates some of the most ear-shattering Black Metal I've heard yet, but even manages to throw in a Violin! Certainly worth looking into, the only downside is that the songs are ridiculously long.
9Mors Principium Est
The Unborn

Intense Melodic Death Metal, this band's albums are hard to come by, but once you hear this you will love it. The opening track "Pure" is a lesson in how to make a great Melodic Death song.
10Furze
UTD

I doubt anyone has heard of this band, but this is a 1 man Norwegian Black Metal act which writes some of the most bizarre and mind-boggling songs I've heard. You either love it or hate it, but I find it twisted, sick, and great.
