Summer Dig List
My musical taste tends to change seasonally. These are my "summer faves" this year (in no order). |
1 | | Can Future Days
Can are one of my all-time fave bands and this is their most "summery" album. More subdued than their other classic stuff on the surface, but just as wild underneath. |
2 | | Fennesz Endless Summer
I recently reviewed this. Excellent stuff. Read my review for further thoughts. |
3 | | Loop Fade Out
Halfway between 60's fuzz psychedelia, rough garage rock and hypnotic krautrocky stuff. These guys sound a bit like Spacemen 3, but a lot heavier. |
4 | | AC/DC Back In Black
They do this straight RAWK thing better than anyone else and this is their best album. The vibe is totally exuberant and hedonistic and therefore perfect for the summer. \m/ |
5 | | Autechre Confield
I've recently dug into electronica a bit and I really love this album. I hear a lot of people hate it, but I don't give a fuck. |
6 | | Boris Feedbacker
My fave album of theirs, hands down. Hypnotic, psychedelic, noisy and heavy as fuck. |
7 | | Brian Eno Another Green World
Early synth pop experiments by the master of cold, artificial atmospheres. Great stuff. |
8 | | Kyuss Blues For The Red Sun
Take a guitar, tune it in C standard, do the same with a bass, crank the amps way up, play some bluesy riffs, add tribal drumming, a gravel-voiced singer and small latin and surf music flavors to it. Flows perfectly. |
9 | | Merzbow Sphere
Now that I can finally dig Merzbow, I feel like I can dig anything. Makes black metal sound like whiny pop-punk in comparison. |
10 | | Talk Talk Spirit Of Eden
Just rediscovered this. Freely improvised and intricately composed at the same time. Sounds fucking BIG! |
