September Shows

List of upcoming shows through the end of the month on my radar
1Rolo Tomassi
Where Myth Becomes Memory

Playing Metro Gallery Wednesday, 9/14 (say, that's tomorree...) - Slightly iffy on this one, if only due to the dense lineup on a weeknight and my increasing old-fogey-hood, but odds are I bite the bullet and do it, loved this record.
2The Callous Daoboys
Die On Mars

Opening for Rolo Tomassi - Haven't scoped out their newest one yet, but definitely plan on snagging a copy at the show if/when I go.
3Under The Pier
An Exercise In Discontent

Also opening for RT - Local boys! And Callous Daoboys labelmates in their own right.
4Cryptodira
The Angel of History

Also ALSO opening for RT - I have a sneaking suspicion, based on how it's listed on the venue site, that this will be the penultimate band, and they're honestly the ones I'm least excited for, but so it goes.
5Clutch
Sunrise On Slaughter Beach

Playing Hammerjack's Saturday, 9/17 - This show's been on my radar for a minute, but I truthfully didn't even know they had a new album out this week until like yesterday.
6Quicksand
Distant Populations

Opening for Clutch - Probably worth the price of admission in their own right.
7Helmet
Meantime

Also opening for Clutch - It's kinda surprising to see an act with this large a following third on the bill, though truth be told, Helmet is a band I never truly got into, at least not in any meaningful sense. I'm pretty sure I have Meantime on CD somewhere, but that's the shameful extent of my exposure to them, other than by rep.
8Porcupine Tree
Closure/Continuation

Playing The Anthem (D.C.) Sunday 9-18 - This one all hinges on whether I can convince my dad to go, which is a pretty telling distillation of the PT brand these days haha (also, the fact that it's apparently a seated show?); that said, I just finally got my nifty new box set in the mail from them, and plan on giving it a spin soon, so if the material's enough to convince me, just might be a solo bolo...
9Thursday
Full Collapse

Playing Das Ottobar Monday 9/19 - And here we have arguably the biggest argument *not* to see Porcupine Tree, since back-to-back shows, particularly both weeknights, can really put a dent in these old bones. Still, the chance to see Full Collapse cover-to-cover is hard to pass up.
10Anthony Green
Boom. Done.

Opening for Thursday - I've caught Anthony solo at least once in the past year, possibly twice, and honestly, the energy wasn't great (the fact that I can't remember how many times I saw him very possibly speaks to that). That was, if memory serves, prior to this record dropping, however, and it's quite good from what I've heard, so...hey, who knows, maybe we'll get an L.S. Dunes track in the mix, as well.
11My Chemical Romance
Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge

Playing Firefly Music Festival Friday 9/23 - My partner bought us one-day passes specifically to see just MCR. Sure, there are value added artists that day like Gus Dapperton, Indigo de Souza, All Time Low, Cold War Kids, Weezer (ehhh), and Avril Lavigne that same day, but let's be real...we're there for MCR.
12Sunny Day Real Estate
Diary

Playing The Fillmore Silver Spring Monday 9/26 - Another Monday night joint, but hell, already took Tuesday off for this bidness. Missed out on seeing Jeremy open solo for No Devotion a little earlier this year after that show got cancelled last-minute due to covid, but I'd call this a not-too-shabby consolation prize.
13The Appleseed Cast
The Fleeting Light of Impermanence

Opening for Sunny Day - Frankly, equally excited to see these guys. In addition to an already incredible back-catalogue, this album in particular has only grown in my esteem since it first came out, and I'm sincerely hoping we get a follow-up soon.
14The Get Up Kids
Four Minute Mile

Playing Baltimore Soundstage 9/27 - This one actually just popped up on my radar recently. Have a buddy already set to come into town from WV for the Sunny Day/Appleseed action, tryna see if he wants to extend his stay by a day to keep making the seminal emo rounds...
15Sparta
Wiretap Scars

Opening for Get Up Kids - Yet another case where I'm as excited for the opener as the headliner, if not more so, especially if we pretend Trust the River never happened.
