| April Albums
Pretty self-explanatory, albums I've looking forward to in the coming month. Excludes Record Store Day releases, since that'd be a list unto itself. | 1 | | Andrew Bird My Finest Work Yet
Alright, so technically not an April album, but I still need to snag this one sometime soon. | 2 | | Ages and Ages Me You They We
Had honestly forgotten about these folks, nice to see them getting a little buzz around these here parts. | 3 | | Pup Morbid Stuff
Will be a good tag-in now that I've sort of slowed my consumption of Spanish Love Songs (and The Menzingers have a new 7" dropping on RSD, so hopefully something more substantial from those parts later in the year.) | 4 | | Weyes Blood Titanic Rising
New to me, but the amount of hype this has been getting is hard to ignore, and I like the ::checks notes:: one song I've listened to so far. | 5 | | Big Business The Beast You Are
It's an Owl-bum. Need I say more? Watch this space... | 6 | | Inter Arma Sulphur English
Shade thrown at Baroness aside, like this band quite a lot, so pretty pumped to get back down in the sludge. | 7 | | Anderson .Paak Ventura
Wasn't the hugest fan of Oxnard, but honestly haven't listened to it a whole lot, so maybe it's a grower. That, coupled with the pretty short span between releases, and I'm not getting my hopes too high--but, on the other hand, .Paak's still definitely got more hits than misses. We shall see. | 8 | | Craig Finn I Need A New War
Meanwhile, in a totally fair comparison, the ever-reliable Craig Finn is returning to round out what was apparently intended as a trilogy begun in 2015. I didn't realize the overarching connection, but dug both of those albums (and pretty much everything out of the Hold Steady camp), so hoping this is a nice feather in the cap. | 9 | | Aldous Harding Designer
Honestly, I was more excited about this album *before* I heard the lead single, mainly because I find those background, quasi-spoken word vocals pretty off-putting. Then again, I loved Party, and it had some strange flourishes that ended up growing on me, so definitely keeping an eye peeled. | 10 | | The Mountain Goats In League With Dragons
Confession time: I've just never gotten into the Mountain Goats. I've heard random songs on playlists and enjoyed them well enough, and a lot of artists I actively seek out have covered songs with what (to me) sound like pretty capable results (Aaron West, Amanda Palmer, and fellow list-residers Craig Finn and Andrew Bird). I think, as much as anything, it's being intimidated by the sheer volume of the band's discography at this point. Still, if there's any one-off fated to be a possible gateway for a nerd like me, it's slapping a dragon on your album cover and calling it noir, so, y'know, guess I'm here for it. | 11 | | Marissa Nadler and Stephen Brodsky Droneflower
Based on the song I've heard so far, this is absolutely everything one could hope for a team-up between these two legends to be. Even if half the album ends up just being hisses and moans, it'll still be worth it. | 12 | | Vampire Weekend Father Of The Bride
This might actually be first week of May, but regardless, this band vanishing for the better part of a decade in the wake of what was, to my mind, their best album has me looking forward to this release, but with a chip on my shoulder about the whole thing. Should make for an interesting listening experience. | |

04.03.19 | What are you looking forward to for RSD? | thecheatisnotdead
04.03.19 | Oof. List goes on (I'll probably devote another list to it sometime soon), but my top five would be the following:
Julien Baker's 7"
Lord Huron's "Night We Met" single (featuring Phoebe Bridgers, I believe)
The Menzingers' 7"
San Fermin's Live at the Fillmore LP
Moses Sumney's Black in Deep Red, 2014 LP
Thrice's Deeper Wells 10" (even though I wasn't a huge fan of Palms, holding out hope)
The Wonder Years' Live from Maida Vale 10"
So, yeah, my top five's actually seven, and I've probably got at least that many more on my list, so hoping for a decent haul this year. How about yourself? | Uzumaki
04.03.19 | Would not turn down Herbie Hancock’s “Dedication” LP or “The Psychedelic Sounds Of The 13th Floor Elevators” if I found them, but if I don’t find them I wouldn’t be sad. My list is:
Alien Weaponry - Tū
Bear's Sonic Journals: Fillmore East. Feburary 1970 - The Allman Brothers Band
Woodstock Sunday August 17th, 1969 - Janis Joplin
Stairway To Nick John - Mastodon
A Saucerful Of Secrets (mono) - Pink Floyd
Hemispheres - Rush
Palms-Deeper Wells - Thrice
The Crow OST - Various Artists
Thirst OST - Cho Young-Wuk
Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse OST - Various Artists | thecheatisnotdead
04.03.19 | Nice. Mastodon, Spider-Verse, and Rush would also probably be on my b-squad. |
