| Time For A New Laptop
So it's probably a bad sign when you try to open your laptop anything
beyond a 30-degree angle, the screen does an impression of the inside of a
cloud, right? Oh well, long time coming, I suppose. List be digs. | 1 | | La Dispute Rooms of the House
So glad this overcame the pre-release jitters everybody (myself included) seemed
to have. | 2 | | Nothing Guilty of Everything
I actually found this on sale in the music department (read: single aisle, and
subtracting every day) of Best Buy. I guess one plus side of them just really not
caring about that side of their business anymore is that things like this can get
featured. They even mentioned Behemoth's new album in one of their newspaper
circulars--which, great. | 3 | | Animals as Leaders The Joy of Motion
Loves me some instru-metal. | 4 | | Morrissey You Are the Quarry
"You have never been in love until you've seen the sunlight thrown over smashed
human bone..." | 5 | | Closure in Moscow First Temple
Well, I for one am still fairly excited for Pink Lemonade, questionable title
notwithstanding. And anyway, five years isn't *that* long for a follow-up, if you're
measuring by Tool standards. | 6 | | Of Machines As if Everything Was Held in Place
And I'm still, somehow, holding out hope for these guys' return as well, even after
some less-than-impressive teasers. | 7 | | Wilderness Wilderness
Dem vocals. | 8 | | Foster the People Torches
This is probably a shallow thing to admit to, but I bought this album when it was
first released, listened to it maybe twice, and then didn't really think about it. I
recently dusted it off when I heard they were doing a follow-up, realized I knew
pretty much every song through either radio overplaying or use in commercials, and
have been jamming it pretty steadily ever since. Plus, shamelessly derivative as it
is, "Helena Beat" is still the best MGMT song they never wrote. | 9 | | Daisyhead/Have Mercy Split
Have Mercy is strangely overlooked on this site, although the band page that
comes up when you search them is hilarious. And "Wonder" is Daisyhead's best yet. | 10 | | Johann Johannsson IBM 1401, A User's Manual
A lot more moving than I thought it would be, and given that my first exposure to
Johannsson was "Sun's Gone Dim...," that's saying something. Looking forward to
spelunking deeper into his discography. Especially Fordlandia. | |

03.29.14 | 8's description lol.
Their new album is better in my opinion. | thecheatisnotdead
03.29.14 | Yeah, I'm gonna give it a listen. I liked "Coming of Age" without ever realizing it was the same band. | MuhNamesTyler
03.29.14 | Need a new comp as well. My start up disc had been fried for over a month, glad I bought a tablet not too long ago. | OwMySnauze
03.29.14 | Buy a Sony. | tmagistrelli
03.29.14 | I'll be in the market for a new one soon. I gotta say Sony, or anything that doesn't have windows 8 on it.
spending a few hundred more on a mac starts to get more and more appealing..
i dig 8 and i keep hearing about 1 | thecheatisnotdead
03.29.14 | Right now I've been leaning towards an HP (possibly an Envy), but that's mainly more out of relative familiarity than any sort of brand loyalty or technical preference.
An aside, I just went out looking for one today, and it's crazy to me that more and more of them come without disc drives these days. I realize discs are dying, but still, at least leave the option. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned in my compy choices.
Also, @tmag, 1 is definitely worth a listen. Don't know if you've heard/enjoyed their other material, but this might be might favorite album of theirs yet. | MuhNamesTyler
03.29.14 | Yeah the newer MacBook Pros don't have a disc drive. I've been inconvenienced a few times |
