| Albums most influential in my writing style
blah blah, self explanitory. | 1 | | NOFX So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes
This was actually the first punk record I ever bought. To this day, I still cant get over its greatness. Aside from \"Dad\'s Bad News\", there isnt a single track I dislike on here. \"Its My Job to Keep Punk Rock Elite\" and \"180 Degrees\" are probably the two songs that have influenced me the most. | 2 | | Against Me! The Disco Before the Breakdown
While Searching for a Former Clarity may be my favorite album from them, The Disco Before the Breakdown really showed me how music alone can express a variety of emotions. The title track is probably one of my favorite songs of all time. I just love the lo-fi folky punk sound of this record, and I think that Tom Gabel is probably one of the best lyricists since Bob Dylan. | 3 | | Latterman No Matter Where We Go..!
This is a relatively new band to me, as Ive only gotten into them just recently. However, in their music, there is a sense of unity evident that is almost unheard of in punk rock today, or in music period. The lyrical interplay between Matt Canino and Phil Douglass is just brilliant, and thats what gives them the edge over this next album | 4 | | The Lawrence Arms Apathy and Exhaustion
While I may love Oh! Calcutta!, Apathy is absolutely the stronger record. The ballads of Chris McCaughan are just absolutely wonderful, and I think I actually might enjoy him a bit more than Brendan Kelly\'s harsher punk songs. Maybe its just my taste maturing, but there is some x-factor in Apathy and Exhaustion that just lures me in like no other. \"Your Gravest Words\" might be one of the best songs ever. | 5 | | Lagwagon Hoss
This makes the list simply out of its melodic tightness. Joey Cape\'s lyricism is absolutely superb, as is every element of the instrumentals. Songs like \"Sleep\" and \"Name Dropping\" are the reason why I still write music today. | |
