SCREAM!
06.19.17 | Solid ass lineup this year |
butcherboy
06.19.17 | i'll see you there, dude.. |
Joeman82
06.19.17 | I wish I had the money because I want to see Bad Religion/Alexisonfire/At The Drive-In so bad |
bloc
06.19.17 | The lineup is legendary. Would have loved to go but got lazy trying to find Airbnb etc |
SCREAM!
06.19.17 | they made a huge deal about their 10th anniversary a couple of years ago but this lineup blows that year right outta the water |
butcherboy
06.19.17 | I just hope Qotsa don't spend too much of their set playing whatever electro-pop nonsense they suddenly decided to do.. |
SCREAM!
06.19.17 | They've only released one new song so far (right?) so I'm not too worried about that
kind of pissed they decided to shove protest the hero on after them at like 12:30 cause we were thinking of possibly heading home after QOTSA finishes but even if I don't see those guys it'll be a ridiculously cool experience |
butcherboy
06.19.17 | yea, I'm juggling spending time with friends in the city as well, so it'll be a tiring week altogether.. I'm curious to catch The Specials as well, though I gather that's not your area of interest? |
Hawks
06.19.17 | Have fun bro. :] |
SCREAM!
06.19.17 | "I'm curious to catch The Specials as well, though I gather that's not your area of interest"
Pretty much the only ska I've ever properly listened to is Streetlight. I don't think there's anyone playing at that time though so I might stop by to kill time (or go take a nap we'll see how I'm feeling haha) |
butcherboy
06.19.17 | I want to catch Rammstein as well.. never been my kind of music, but their live shows are a fucking blast.. haven't seen them since '99, I gather.. |
SCREAM!
06.19.17 | Will be my first time seeing them and I'm super stoked to catch that legendary live show of theirs |
someguest

Saturday's line-up is even better to me, but I haven't pieced that one together yet. |
butcherboy
06.20.17 | I saw Jello and the Melvins in Vancouver ages ago.. I missed that he's on the line-up.. might be hitting it up.. thanks dude! |
someguest
06.20.17 | I plan on chilling with SCREAM for a minute, it'd be cool to meet up with you too.
I'm driving from Michigan. It's about a nine hour trip for me. |
butcherboy
06.20.17 | I'm bussing from NY to montreal.. I've got a room booked about twenty minutes from Montebello for a week, and meeting up with friends there.. let's coordinate, will be good people around.. |
SCREAM!
06.20.17 | Damn guest, thought we'd have more in common than that. The ones in the list are the ones I'm set on seeing and then I'll just plug in the gaps as I go along. |
someguest
06.20.17 | We'll probably go band for band on Saturday. Converge, Meshuggah, August Burns Red, and Queens are musts. |
someguest

butcherboy
06.21.17 | i'll be at specials, EODM, reverend (always a fun time!), Qotsa and Iggy because there may be some nice cameos going on there.. |
someguest
06.21.17 | I bet the Queens boys will play with Iggy again. |
butcherboy
06.21.17 | I'm hoping.. and Pop has had so many good people rotate through his playing band after Post Pop Depression, that it'll be a good show regardless.. always have time for Iggy |
someguest
06.21.17 | They played all but one song from The Idiot when I saw him on the Post Pop Depression tour. |
butcherboy
06.21.17 | fuck! must have been amazing.. they stuck closer to the actual album when I saw them, but they did do scorching fucking takes on Fall in Love with me and Passenger.. |
someguest
06.21.17 | He played forever in Detroit. It was a hometown special. Those guys mastered his old material. |
SCREAM!
06.21.17 | added set times to the list like guest did
some pretty big gaps here and there (especially on day 1) that I'll be filling in at random as I go (could potentially meet up during those times) or just taking it easy (went to Rockfest once 4 years ago and I appreciated having the occasional moment to leave the grounds and get out of the crowd for a while)
Noticed I'll have to leave Converge 10 mins early if I wanna catch all of Alexisonfire :( |
someguest
06.21.17 | Saturday's a bit stronger than Friday imo. We'll have time to meet up.
How long did it take you to get into town and park the last time you went, SCREAM!? |
SCREAM!
06.21.17 | I live in Ottawa which is usually only about an hour drive to Montebello so we figured we'd leave the Friday morning
Bad idea. Montebello is a tiny ass town with like 1 major road that was backed up into oblivion and we got caught in there for like 2 hours and missed a few shows because of it. So this time around we'll be heading over Thurs evening. Hopefully it'll be quicker to get in but it'll probably still be a shitshow |
someguest
06.21.17 | That's what I expected. I should probably gas up about 30 kms out of town too, right? I heard there's ONE gas station in the town.
We'll be getting there late Thursday afternoon. |
SCREAM!
06.21.17 | I don't remember what the gas station situation was like but 1 is probably right and with the crowd they'll be getting prices will probably be inflated too
So yeah, try and gas up as far as you can |
butcherboy
06.21.17 | there are two gas stations relatively close to the festival grounds.. one on rue notre dame (5 minute drive), and one on rue papineau in the nearby town, Papineauville (10 minutes if you take the 148 O thoroughfare).. though the traffic there will be fucking slammed, so plan on maybe 20 minutes.. |
SCREAM!
06.21.17 | maybe just bring a gas canister and save yourself the worries ;) |
MO
06.21.17 | damn man have a blast. how'd you win tix i'm jealous |
someguest
06.26.17 | Man, it was one of the worst experiences of my life. There was so much water, car got stuck in the parking, the camping was a fucking eternity away from everything, way too many drunk/stupid people, and the outside venue itself was too small for the crowds that showed up. Never again. |
fromtheinside
06.26.17 | i'm here to say hi to everyone commenting in this thread |
fromtheinside
06.26.17 | are you doing 24 hour time? wtf scream |
someguest
06.26.17 | Welcome to Canada, fti. |
SCREAM!
06.26.17 | Yeah it's no doubt going to be my last year there as well although, numerous logistical bullshit aside, the bands were awesome. Rammstein's live show was like nothing I've seen before |
SCREAM!
06.26.17 | The camping was a 15ish minute walk so, yeah, annoying but idk not my biggest worry. Our parking was a fucking walk and a half away from the campsite though which was a fuckin pain in the ass for loading/unloading the car.
Agreed hard on too many idiots/too many people in general |
fromtheinside
06.26.17 | oh shit you saw rammstein?
how was it? |
someguest
06.26.17 | Yes, the parking was the worst part. People were stuck in the Ska lot and the festival was doing nothing to help them get out. Some random dude in a tractor was pulling people out for $50. |
butcherboy
06.26.17 | it was alright.. I was only properly on the grounds Saturday, and generally had a nice time.. Canada's only sussing out their festivals so it's not as smooth a show as the European circuit.. drunken idiots prevail at festivals.. |
fromtheinside
06.26.17 | wait guest you're not in canada?
wait-
wait...
are you? |
someguest
06.26.17 | Nope, Michigan. I drove ten hours to have a crappy time. Ha. |
SCREAM!
06.26.17 | Damn man
What should have been a 1hr drive in turned into 4+ due to ridiculous traffic coming in and we were pissed off about that. Definitely wouldn't have wanted to drive out that long for it. We were in the metal parking which was fine terrain wise luckily for us. But the site was 3+km (you do the math for miles) from the campsite... |
SCREAM!
06.26.17 | Oh and Rammstein were really cool. They played for an hour in a half and shoved in more fire coming from more places than I've seen in all other shows combined |
fromtheinside
06.26.17 | i knew that |
fromtheinside
06.26.17 | also i'm jealous cause i've always wanted to them live scream and fire seems appropriate for a rammstein show |
fromtheinside
06.26.17 | i thought you hated norma jean? |
someguest
06.26.17 | Rammstein were cool. They were the last act we saw before we bailed a day early. We'd had enough. We were fucking exhausted.
I don't understand why they don't have you park your vehicle next to your camp site like other festivals (i.e. Bonnaroo). |
SCREAM!
06.26.17 | I'd never listened to norma jean until about a week and a half ago when I realised I could fit them pretty easily into my day Friday. They were pretty cool overall |

that alone was all the incentive in the world for me not to go...someguest I can't believe you came up from Michigan for it, that's some determination man |
SCREAM!
06.26.17 | I remembered the logistics being bad 3 years ago too but damn it really hit me harder this time. Don't know if it was really any worse or if it was because we got a ton of rain and mud this year or maybe I'm just starting to get too old for this shit
Still glad I went overall and got to knock some pretty big bands off my to see list but I can't think of a lineup that would get me to go back |
RunOfTheMill
06.26.17 | I was there! Had the time of my life!
Stuck around for most of the shows you went to as well, nice.
The traffic was awful coming in, yep, but we got up at 6 on Sunday to get out, and it was a breeze.
Mud didn't bother me, had my billy boots and poncho. Only thing that sucked was that there was nowhere to sit down, so standing up 9+ hours was painful, but the shows made it worth it.
Agreed the lineup was incredible, it'll be hard to beat for the years to come. My fav was def Rammsetin, stage production was amazing and performance was full of energy and vigour. |
RunOfTheMill
06.26.17 | Also idk I found some good parking by the train tracks right next to the campsite, so I mean ¯_(ツ)_/¯ def from no thanks to the fest employees, most had no idea what was going on or where was what, had to be pretty self sufficient |
SCREAM!
06.26.17 | We ended up leaving as soon as QotSA were done playing Go With the Flow (so missed one or two songs at the end of their set I think?). Had to make the 35min trek back to the parking lot but otherwise the drive out went really well for us too |
someguest
06.26.17 | "that alone was all the incentive in the world for me not to go...someguest I can't believe you came up from Michigan for it, that's some determination man"
I won't do it again. 20+ hours of driving to be there a day and a half. |
RunOfTheMill
06.27.17 | Did you catch any good shows at least, guest man? |
someguest
06.27.17 | Thursday killed it. Bad Religion put on the best set I've ever seen live. Goddamn, they were good.
The Offspring, Terror, and Rammstein were awesome too. |
RunOfTheMill
06.27.17 | I'm kinda bummed I missed Bad Religion. I caught the beginning of their set, but my buddy wanted to see Born of Osiris (which I wasn't really impressed by). I have never even listened to BR, but I was enjoying it dammit! |
SCREAM!
06.27.17 | I ended up missing BR simply because I forgot they were on at 8 and went back to my tent to grab food after AFI which finished at 7:15 lol |
