Does It Exist? (a Rec List)

Up late for the first time this semester, typing out technique notes for Karate of all things. Black Star and Distant Relatives are...."big" recent digs, I guess?. GO EASY, please - your 20 album list will probably go ignored cause I have no idea what to listen to, but 5 won't. The title refers to the first part.
1Protest the Hero

Is there something that sounds similar to this....
Back to Times of Splendor

....and preferably this.....
Blackwater Park

.....but possibly this - combined? (To make it clearer, a combo of 1 and 2 OR 1 and this/3)
4Regina Spektor

Also rec me a singer-songwriter album....
5A Fine Frenzy
One Cell in the Sea

....that can have an attractive author/artist but doesn't have to...
The Reminder

...and is indie-ish pop....
7Sara Bareilles
Little Voice

....and is similar to at least two of these, isn't all slow or mid-tempo, but doesn't have to be energetic really either - a 4 + 5 combo would be ideal.
8Imogen Heap

A reminder of sorts to listen to her, since her cover of Thriller is soooooooooooo freakin good.
